A petition from the Barbers of the City with reference to the rate of tax in the Occupa-
tion Tax Ordinance was presented, and on motion was made an order of business for the next
meetinfg,
Aldermen Price, Mintun and Phillips were appointed to be a special committee to confer
with Eason Bros. in regard to the removal of the Blacksmith Shop situated in the City Wagon
Yard,
On the recommendation of the City Engineer a building permit was granted to Mr. W.H.
Johnson for the erection of a residence
The matter of completing the sidewalk grade for the walk up the Mountain on East Spring S
Street was referred to the Street Committee and the City Engineer,*ith power to act. This
was done on"motion by Aldrman Mintun.seconded by Alderman Jackson and carried by the unanimo
mous vote of the members present.
Alderman Phillips moved that the Council go on record as being willing to appropriate
$1,000,00, to be used in paving that part of University Avenue from East Center Street
North along the East side of Evergreen Cemetary,approximately to.the East Entrance thereof.
This motion was seconded by Alderman Mintun and received the following vote; ayes Alderme n
Drake, Jackson, Mintun ?Phillips and Price; naysnone absent and not voting Alderman Harding
and was declared passed by the Mayor.
The Council the went into Executive Session,
10 Alderman Harding entered at this time.
After a full discussion of the matter of purchasing more fire apparatus, Alderman Price
introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption. This motion was seconded by Ald-
erman Drake and received the following vote;ayes Aldermen Drake Harding Jackson, Phillips
and Price, and was declared passed by the Mayor.

pump (motor driven fire truck) of approximately 750 G.P.M. capacity to be submitted to ,
the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, on January 15th 1925,

Alderman Drake moved that. the Water Commissioners be requested to confer with the State
Board of Health with reference to the remedies for the existing deficiencies in the Sewer
system of Fayetteville, and the polut16n of the waters of West Fork. This motion was duly
seconded by Ald rman Prcice and received the unanimous vote of the Council.
No further business appearing the Council adjourned to December 15th,1924,

Alderman Phillips moved tfat Alderman Harding be -chosen to act as Chaff as pro tem. This
motion was seconded by Alderman Jackson and received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Drake,
Jackson Mintun, Phillips; nays none; not voting Alderman Harding. The clerk announced the
result of the vote and Alderman Harding took the Chair,
The report of the Street Commissioner for the week ending Dec. 13th,1924 was read to the
Council and on motion duly put and carried was ordered received and filed.
Alderman Phillips moved that the payroll of the Street laborers be approved and the Clerk
' directed to issue w4rrants for the same. This motion was seconded by Alderman Drake and receiv-
ed the following vote; ayes Alderman Drake, Harding, Jackson, Mintun, Phillips; nays none;
absent and not voting Alderman Price, and was declared passed by the Oha"irmazr pro tem,

On the recommends tion of the City Engineer•the following building permits were granted;
W.H.Johnson, residence, on university Street I R.B.Tilley, East Maple.
After considering the report of the City Engineer as to the change in grade of the R.R.
tracks in West Spring Street Improvement District Number One, the Appeal of the S64 Louis &
San Fransisco Railway Co. was continued to December 22nd, 1924. This was done on motion by
Alderman Lrake, seconded by Alderman Phillips and carried by the following vote; ayes Aldermen
Drake, Harding, Jackson, Mintun, Phillips; nays none; absent nd not voting Alderman Price, an
and so declared by the Cb prgptem.
Dr. Jewell and Dr. Moare presented the matter of paving a block of treadwell Street. After '
due investigation and deliberation, Alderman Phillips moved that the City agrees and undertake
to furnish the engineering :work and to do the excavating for said paving,to-wit one block of
Treadwell Street, from Hill Street to Duncan, on condition that the property owners pay for th
paving. This motion.was seconded by Alderman Jackson and received the following vote;ayes
Aldermen Harding, Jackson, Mintun, Phillips; nays Drake; absent and not voting Alderman Price,
and was declared passed by the Ghee pro tem.
On motion the City attorney was instructed to prepare an ordinance covering the operations
of certain kinds of businese,and an ammendment to the Occupation Tax providing for the reduct4-
tion of the rate of tax on Barbera.
Alderman Drake introduced an Ordinance which was read the first time. Alderman Phillips thv
then moved that the Rules be suspended and the Ordinance placed on its second reading. This
motion was seconded by Alderman Jackson and received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Drake,
Harding, Jackson, Mintun, Phillips; nays none;"absent and not voting Alderman Price, and was
declared passed by the O ia rman pro tem. The Ordinance was read the second time.

Alderman Jackson then moved that the Ordinance be referred to the City Attorney and the
Ordinance Committee. This motion was seconded by Alderman Phillips, and received the following
vote; ayes Aldermen Drake, Jackson, Mintun, Phillips; nays none; absent and not voting Alderma/g6
Price,and was declared passed by the Ghat=msaip pro tem.

The weekly report of the Street Commissioner was filed, and Alderman Jackson moved that '
the payroll be approved and the Clerk directed to issue warrants for the same as follows;

man Mintun and received the following vote; ayes Aldermen Drake, Harding Jackson, Mintun.

An ordinance concerning the warrants for the benefit of Hill Avenue Improvement District
was introduced by Alderman Harding and read the fi-rst time.
Alderman J okson moved that the Rules be suspended and the Ordinance placed on its second
reading ;thdt motion was seconded by Alderman Mintun and received the following vote; ayes
Aldermen Drake, Harding, gackson, Mintun, Phillips; nays none absent and not voting Alderman
Prdce,and was declared passed by the Mayor. The Ordinance was read the second time.
