The minutes of the previous meetings (2), were read and approved.
The peport of the Street Commissioner for the ':leek ending September 20th, 1924. was
read and on motion was ordered filed.
The payroll of.the Street laborers was read and Alderman Harding moved that it be paid
and the Clerk instructed to issue warrants for the same. This motion was seconded by Alder
man bIint-an and received the following vote; ayes Llderrpen Drake, Harding, P.iintun, Phillips
Price; nays none; absemq and not voting A derman Jackson;and was declared passed by the

An Ordinance ,providing for the payment of&certain sum for the pavement of the
intersecti61�g of streets in Hill Street Improvement District Number Ont of, the- City ,of
?ayttteville, rkansas, was introduced by __lderman Phillips,and read the first time.
'.hereupon _Aderman Drake moved that the Rules be suspended and the Ordinance placed
on its second reading. This motion was seconded by Aderman Harding and received the
following vote; ayes Aldermen Drake, Harding Alintun, Phillips, Price; nays,none; absent
and not voting Alderman Jackson, and was declared passed by the Ir?ayor. The Ordinance ':ras
then read the second time. After discussion, the Ordinance was :made'.the order of business
for the next meeting of the Council.
The second report of the Board of Improvement of South College _,venue was presented,.
whereupon alderman Drake moved that the report be received, filed and spread of record.
This motion was seconded by Alderman Price and received the following vote; ayes Alder-
men Drake and Price; nays Aldermen Harding, Idintun, and Phillips. The mayor declared the
motion failed to pass.
Alderman Price moved that in view of the dangerous condition of South School ..venue
from Rock Street to a point near the City Hospital, the Commissioners of the District
in charge of the pavement of said Street be requested to place a curb along each side of
the pavement ,t said section thereof. This motion was: secohded by Alderman Drake,and
received the following vote; ayes ..ldermen Drake. Harding, Alintun, Phillips, Price;nays
none,; absent and not voting alderman Jackson, and was declared passed by the I.1ayor.
Representatives of the Federation of Churches presented a request for an increase in
the salary of the Matron at the Frisco Station,,rrhereupon Alderman Harding moved that the
salary of the Matron be increased to the sum of ;20.00 per month, beginning with October,
1924.. This motion ;ras seconded by Alderman Price and received the i'ollol.•ring vote; ayes

A retition from a number of the real- estate dealers of the City was presented,asking for
repeal of the ordinance compelling them to pay license or a reduction in the amount of the
fee. On motion by Alderman Drake seconded by Alderman Price the petition wzs ordered filed.
A protest against the formation of Douglas Street Improvement District was presented.
On the recommendation of the City :ngineer the following building permits were granted;
':.S.Dugggns, residence; J,W.';;ebb, repairs; Otto Phillips, repairs and addition.
Application of J.H.Phipps to cut the pavement on Highland Avenue to connect with the
water main was granted subject to the provissions of the ordinances governing the came.
On motion permission wrs granted to J.V,'.'*Iebb to out the curb at his property on ''Kest
Dickson Street for the purpose of constructing a driveway,subject to the approval of the Cit
engineer.
On motion by alderman Price, seconded by Alderman Drake and carried by the unanimous
vote of the members present the Clerk was directed to notify Lester Lollar that he is re-
gtired to construct the pavement at the corner of Olive and Maple according to theplans
originally agreed on or reconstruct the walk and curb as it was before the removal of the
curb; said work to be done within 30 days from date.
On motion duly put and carried the hlayor was instructed to employ a man to inspect the
street lights and report the number in actual operation to the Council at its next meeting. ;

The second report of the Commissioners of South College Avenue Improvement District was

and Drake; nays Aldermen Harding and Phillips;aabsent and not voting Aldermen Jackson and
Miintun, and was declared not passed by the Mayor.
Alderman Price called up the Ordinance providing for the appropriation of $5700.00 for
the benefit of. Hill Avenue Improvement District,and asked that it be placed on its third
readingand final passage. By consent this :✓as done and the ordinance was read the third time

Alderman Harding,in reporting on the petition for lights in Gunter Lddition recommehded that
six lights be installed as requested in the petitionq and moved that the report be adopted,Alderm

motion passed and the report adopted.
A petition asking for lights at certain alleys was referred to the Chairman of the Light
Committee.
On motion by Alderman Drake seconded by Alderman Phillips and carried by the unanimous vote of th
members predent building permits were granted as follows-
P.R.Green, bungalow; Geo. F.Puterbaugh, Filling Station.
A request for traffic warning signs at the crossings of Ida Avenue and Arkansas Avenue; and
at Leverett Avenue and Maple Street -'as granted and the Mayor.was authorized to instal the same.
The Council then went into executive session to consider the appeals from the assessments in
'aest Meadow Street Improv.ment District Number One. The following action was had thereon; -
Appeal of A.L.T'rent;..ssessment $482.00.Alderman Price moved that in as much as the Council,
..fter investigation finds the assessment of A.L.Trent fair and eouitable,the request for a reduc-
tion is denied. Alderman Itintun seconded this motion which received the following vote- ayes
Alderman Drake, Harding, Mintun Phillips, Price; nays none;. absent and not voting Alderman Jac. -so
' and was declared passed by the Mayor.
