City Hospital for July and August was received and ordered filed On motion by Alderman I:Iintun seconded By rlderman Harding and carried by the unanimous vote of the members present all amusement concessions for the week ending September 27 1924 were awarded to the '.ashington County Fair Association. A petition for street lights at the intersections of .Lindell and ':;est Maple and of Lindell and "ogglass was referred to the Light Committee, permission to drive an Auto on the Streets of Fayetteville was granted to Gus Gonyer, subject to the approv 1 of the Chief of Police, i, etition f^r the_ change of a Strect light on Taylor nd ':.'hittham streets was referred to Chairman of the Light Committee,with poc✓er to act. Alderman Phillips moved that the Fire Chief be authorized and directed to have all Xyge necessary repairs made on the Studebaker Truck,and that he be derected to regAire the discontinuance of any of the Fire apparatus for any purpose except fire service. This motion was secondei by Alderman Mintun and received the following vote; Ayes Aldermen Drake, Harding, Mintun, Fhillios, Price;nays nine; absent and not voting Alderman Jackso/h./ and was declareLf passed by the Mayor, The report of the Board of Health on the location of an egg and poultry House at the corner of ?lest and Soring Streets,containing their adverse recommendation was ordered re - ceived and filed. The Or.inance being read the second time, Alderman Phillip moved that the Rules be further suspended and the Ordinance placed on its third.reading and final passage. ':;ith reference to the sidewalk on ast Maple Street which were left .bove grade by the excavation for the street, the Council ,after discussion of the matter,entertained the following motion by Alderman Harding,seconded b;; Alderman Phillips; That the necessary expense of reconstructing the sidewalksbbegugranteed by theygity; That the work be done under the supervission of the City Engineer,he being given power to act;That it was the opinion of the Council that the expense of the work should be defray- ed by the Annex Number One to Mont Nord Improvement District Number One; ' that the Street Committee be directed to confer with the Commissioners of the District in regard to the matter. This Motion received the following vote ;Ayes Aldermen Drake, Hardt- ing, Mintun, Phillips, Price, naya none; absent and not voting Alderman Jackson and was decfi- clared passed by the Mgyor. A proposetion by Dr. Drake in regard to private paving on Mont Nord was referred to the (City Engineer On mo ion By Alderman Harding Seconded b Alderman Drake, and carried by the unanimous-v� vote of e'member Wese t an appropriation of N5.00 was made to assist in oiling Cemetery Street 4 10� L4 On otion by Alder an Drake seconded by Alderman Price the Mayor was authorized to emp. ploya A'otor-Cycle patrolmanfor six weeks at a salary of $80.00 per month. This motion receiv ed the unanimous vote of the members present. On motion the Council adjourned to September.10th,1924.
