The minutes pf the previous meeting were read and approved., l
The rpport of the Street C�o(mmissicner for the prece lding two we_el--s was received flh filed.
On motion by alderman^H_rding, seconded bi alderman r kV L"aii carried'by the unani-
mous vote of the Council the pay roll of the street workers together with the bills listed
below were ordered aid and the Clerk was directed to issue warrants for the sz•me;-
Irllis Sutton ' 0.50; Mr, Smith 01.40; Doc Taylor 021.25; Joe George 0•,"5.00;
Charles .0—,co.; 036.00; Guy Rogers, special Police service, 016.00 Grover Hale, Special
' Police service, 012.00; Dave Condra street Swteping 036.00; II W. Clinkleman for the servic
of ten men in flushing the Streets, }20.00;American Express Co. ,A .68,
The following bills against the City were referred to the auditing Committee;

The monthly report of the Fire dhief was received and filed.
' A petitkon praying the Counci'- to prevent the location of a poultry house at the
corner of Spring and ','lest Streets was referred to the Health Department.
A complaint by L.1,iWByrnes as to the wall along the '.:est side of the City yagon Yard
:as referred to the Street Committee with power to act.
The Commissioners of ':;est Meadow Street Improvement District Number One of the City
of Fayetteville,.Arkansas,•.zresented'their`secodd report which wasareadto the_Cotihcil:%e
Alderman Price then moved that the report be received, filed and spread of record. This
motion was seconded b;, Alderman Brakeand received the following vote; Ayes, Aldermen Drake
Harding, Jackson, Mimtun, Phillios, Price; Nays,none; Absent and not voting Aone:,and was
declared passed by the Mayor. A copy is as follows; -

'..e,the Board of Commissioners of 'west Meadow Street Improvement District Number one
of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, herewith submit this, our second report,to your
Honorable Body,and herewith submit ne•:; plansof the proposed pavement in the above named Di
District together with the estimate of the cost of the same.
l:e beg leave to report that heretofore we -filed with your Honorable Body a report tzgx
together with plans and the estimate of cost; in which we stated that the estimated cost
of construction, exclusive of interest, and inclusive of contingencies was %?30,000.00;
that on the 2nd day of June,1924, by a resolution, the City Council of the City of Fayette
ville, Arkansas,adopted said plans and said report.
:e further state that since that date,the Commissioners have decided to change their
plans and to lessen the cost of oacd improverncnt,and th..t we have ha.d our engineers to
make new plans which are submitted".hereiVith,and that the estimated cost of said construc-
tion according to said new plans,exclusive of interest, and inclusive of contingencies,
is the sum of 021,500.80;
'::e further stvte that no levy of an assessment has be_n made in said District,and we,
therefore, ask that the Council approve the new plans,as we feel thatwe are now ready to p
uroceed with said work.

by the M.yor; a copy is as follows;-

Z APPROVAL OF PLANS.
'HSR -1;S, at a meeting of the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,held on the
25th day of .August.1924,there was presented to the said City Council, by Clyde :.'alters,Felix
D.Spencer, and Gus Bridenthal asZthe Board of Improvement of "'est L4eadoa Street Improvement
District Number One of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,their report,together with the plans
of the .ork to be done in the construction of the improvement contemplated by said Improvement
District,and the said report having been read in open meeting of said Opumcil,and said plans
having been exhibited to said Council,and to each member thereof,with'tt full and cdmplete'expla
n&Mden of all the details thereof, and it appearing, from said plans,that the estimated cost of
the construction of said improvement,exclusive of interest charges, and inclusive of contin-
gencies,is the sum of y21,500.00,and the said C®Unci] being satisfied that said plans will best
subserve the purpose of said Improvement District, and that the same are correct;

SECTION TC:O:That the Board of assessme nt of said District, who have heretofore been duly

appointedand qualified as such,are hereby authorized to make a new assessment,based upon these
plans and this reports
SECTION THRIE: That all resolutions and parts of resolutions in conflict herewith be, and t
the same are, hereby repealed, and this resolution shall take effect and be in force from and

Alderman Price moved that the Council go on record as pledgtd to pay for the paving of
the intersections in Ylest Meadow Street Improvement Distdict Number One -of the City of Fayette-
ville, Arkansas, and to pay 5$600.00 of the assessment against the property of School District
No. One located therein. This motion was seconded by Alderman I.1intun and received the following '
vote; Ayes Aldermen Drake, Harding, Jackson, hintun Price; Nays Alderman Phillips; Absent and
not voting none, and the motion was declared passed b;; the Mayor.
On motion by Alderman Mintun,seconded by Alderman Phillips and carried by the £olloeing
vote;- Ayes Aldermen Drake, Harding, Jackson, Hintun, Phillips, Price; Nays none, absent and
not voting none, and so declared b the I„ayor,it was ordered that the Council agrees to pay
the sum of $3256.00 on the paving of Annex Number one to West Lafayette Improvement District Nu
Number One.
On motion it was ordered that a special meeting be held on September 10th for the purpose I of considering the passage of an Occupation `Pax Ordinance.

to the water commissioners.

On the recommendation of -the City Engineer building permits were granted as follows,
Elmer Norwood,Lot 4, Block 1, Hicks Addition;

A.L.Trent, Lot 8, Block4, Oakland Place;
Jeff Davis. Lotl 'Block 7 Duncan Addition.
No further business appearing, the Council adjourned to Sept. 1st, 1924,
