Pre-ent, the Mayor, Clerk, Aldermen Harding, Jackson, Mintun, Phillips, Price;Absent Alderman
Drake On motion the reading of the two previous meeting -as waived.
On motion the Re orts of the Police Judge, the City Collecyor"and the Street Commissioner were
received;the two former referred to the Auditing Committee.and the latter ordered filed.
On motion by alderman Harding,seconded by Alderm.:n Phillips and carried by the unanimous
vote of the members present the payroll for the past two weeks was allowed and the Clerk was
directad to issue -warrants forthe same as £ollo-as;-

On motion permits were granted to James and Edwin Craig to drive Autos on thr s treets,
subject to the approval of the Chief of Police.
On motion by Alderman Phillips seconded b;; Aid-rman Harding and carried by the unanimous
vote of the members present the Chief of Police was authorized to employ such additional patro A-
men as he deemed necessary during the convention of the American Legion.
Alderman Phillips introduced an Ordinance which was read the fidst time. Alderman Price t -h -
moved that the Rules be suspended and the Ordinance placed on its second reading. This motion
was seconded by Alderman Harding and received the following vote; Ores Aldermen Harding, Jacks d�✓
L_intun, Phillips, Price; ITays none, Absent and not voting Alderman Drake and -was declared to
be passed by the-I.'ayor. Alderman Price then moved that the Rules be further suspended and the
Ordinance placed on its third reading and final passage. This motion was seconded by Alderman
Phi' -lips and received the following vote; .lyes Aldermen Harding, Jackson, Mintun, Phillips
Price; Nays none; nb.ent and not voting Alder man Drake,�nd declared passed b;, the Mayor, FV:1:1-
Following the third reading the mayor announced the question before the house to be Shall the
Ordinance pass,which resulted in the following vote; Ayes Aldermen Harding, Jackson, I.?intun
Phillips, Price; Nays none; Absent and not voting Alderman Drake,whereupon the Mayor declared

work and labor ane furniCh the necessary material for the rerair and construction as herein

' improvements to be according to the plans and specifications on file in the office of the City
ngineer of the City of Fayetteville,arkansas. The City of Fayetteville agrees to pay to said
Coi'apany for the same as follows;
For all work, labor and material furnished,the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,agrees to pard

400 square yards of Asphaltic pavement: 01.80 the square yard, $720.00
400 square yards concrete pavement $1.30 per s uare yard, $520.00
Total amount to be paid bu the City of Fayetteville in this contract is the sum of T::elve

described, said I:oreno*Burkham Construction Company, a Corporation, and the acceptance o£ said -
materials used and .rork and labor done in said repairs and improvementsby the City Council of
the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas;- said City of Fayetteville agrees to pay said MIoreno-*
Burkham Construction Company, a corporation Twelve Hundred and Forty (ti'1240.00) Dollarsto be

SECTION FIVE; This contract shall be binding upon the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,
from and after the passage approval and publication of this Ordinance and the acceptance of
the same by the said Tdoreno-Burkham Construction Company, a corporatio}i,in writing filed in tht-
Office of the City Clerkof Fayetteville, Arkansas,and compliance with its terms by said

performance of this contract as herein set forth in this Ordinance,upon the full performance cr

SECTION SIX;This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage,
approval and publication.

On motion by Alderman Jackson seconded by Alderman Phillips and carried by the unanimous
vote of the members present a permit was granted to Dyke. Brothers to erect a business build- '
t n on St Charles Street in the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas in accordance with the ppett-
_,plans and specifications on file with the City Counciiunder the supervision of E.I.4.Ratl'�
On motion by Alderman Phillips seconds by Alderman Mintun a permit to erect a business
building on LaFayette .las granted to nob Brown A.
On motion by Alderman Mintun seconded by Alderman harding and carried by the unanimoue vot,,-
o£ the emebers present ermits for building residences mere granted to p.M.Files; Harrison Hal -C
and Morgan Pride;and to G.A.London to build a swimming Pool on South !illow.
All of the buildings to be :subject to the approval of the City Engineer.
On motion theCouncil adjourned to meet Fridc.y August 15th, at 7;30 p.m.

ADJOURNED AIMING OF THE CITY COUNCIL,HELD
AUGUST 15th,1924.
Present the Mayor, Clerk, Aldermen Harding, Jackson, IFiintun, Phillips; Absent Aldermen Brza
Drake and Price. ,
-The minutes of three previous meetings were readiand approved.
Requests for a light and for street repairs on East Spring Street were presented.
The purpose of the meeting was stated by the Mayor to be the continuation,of the hearing
of appeals from West I:leadow Imi-rovement District.
Geo. A Hurst, atorney for the District addressed the Council,and after some discussion of
the affairs of the District.Alderman Idintun moved that the hearing be contunued to August 25th
1924,which was seconded by Alderman Jackson and received the following vote Ayes Aldermen Hard
ing, Jackson, Mintun, Phillips, Nays none, Absent and not voting, Aldermen Drake and Price,and
was declared passed by the Payor.
In response to the complaint of Tdrs Boyd as to drainage the Council took the position that
no responsibility rested on the City in reference to the matter.
On motion by Alderman Phillips seconded b Alderman Harding and carried by the unanimous
vote of the members present the City Engineer was instructed to make an estimate of the
actual cost of paving the intersections in Viest Meadow Street Improvement District.
On motion the Clerk was directed to publish a notice of the filing of a corrected descriptr
tion of the lands in School Street Improvement District Number One. '
Alderman Harding introduced an Ordinance which was read the first time, whereupon Alderman
Phillips moved that the Rules be suspended and the Ordinance placed on its second reading.
This motion was seconded bI, Alderman Jackson and received the following vote; Ayes Aldermen
Harding, Jackson, Mintun, Phillips; Nays none; Absent and not voting Aldermen Drake and Price.
The mayor declared the motion passed,and the Ordimance was read the .,econd time.
On motion by Alderman Jackson seconded by Alderman Harding and carried by the unanimous
vote of the members present the City En ineer vas instructed to make an estimate of the actual '
cost of paving the intersections in 'nest Lafayette Improvement District Number 6ne.

Dr. Dinwiddie was preset ma ed a proposition to the Council as to drainage on hest Maply,
On motion/XJ//Jd//0§q/the Street Committee was instructed to investigate and take such action
as they saw proper.
On motion Dyke Brothers were granted permission to erect a temporary building to house the
building material for their business house,�aid building to be taken down within 6 months from
the time of its erection.
Permission was granted to Mr French to cut the pavement on Lafayette for the purpose of ism
tapping the crater main,subject to the usual ^upervision of the City Engineer.
No further business appearing the Council adjourned to.August C25th,1924.
