REGULAR IvL.E'TING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
HRLD, JULY 21st,1924.
Present; the Mayor, Clerk, Aldermen Harding, Jackson, Mintun, Phillips and Price. Absent
Alderman Drake.
The minutes of the two previous meetings were read and approved.
On motion by Alderman Harding, seconded by Alderman Phillips and carried by the unanimous v
vote of the members present,the report of the Street Commissioner was ordered filed and the Cler
was directed to issue warrants to the street laborers as follows;
Charles '.:ileox(for Ewing Slebb) , $11.25; Jack Linor, X14.50; Bob iditchell, $9,00; Tom Brown, $12
Bert Phillips, ,$39.00; Chas. Stewart, $6.00; T.V.Counts,-N6.00; Ellis Sutton, $19.00;
Ed. Malone, $18.00; T.N.Webster, $10.12; Charles ViSlcox, Q15.00.
On motion by Alderman Price, seconded by Alderman Mintun and carried by the unanimous vote
of the members present the following accounts against the City were allowed and the Clerk was
ordered to issue warrants for the same;Jess Walters for painting on streets $7.20; H.E.Hansard
67.20; J.!".Shelley, for dead dogs and rubbish removed, 59.00; Auto sign Co. for STOP signs
5p9.50.
A Petition as to the disposal of sewage was reffrred to the dater Commissioners.
A Petition from Idrs Boyd for relief from faulty drainage was referred to the City engineer.
A request from the American Legion for permission to instal standard flag decoration was
granted,provided the work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer.

and unanimously carried the Mayor,

expend as much
as X75.00
for the painting of
Street Signs.
On motion by Alderman Phillips seconded by Alderman Harding and carried by the unanimous
vote of the I.Iembers present the report of the IrIayor as to the water supply for the City Park
and as to the extension of the Sewer system was ordered filed.
A communication
from the State
Board
of Healthrconcerning
the use
of Fayetteville
water by t
the Frisco was read
to the Council
and on
motion was ordered
filed.
Alderman Harding introduced an Ordinance which was read the first time; whereupon Alderman
Jackson moved that the Rules be susuended and the Ordinance placed on its second reading. This m
motion was seconded by Alderman Phillips, and received the following vote; Ayes Alderman Harding
Jackson, Mintun, Phillips, Price, nays none, absent and not voting Alderman Drake; and was decla
declared passed by the Mayor.
Alderman Phillips then moved that the Rules be further suspended and the Ordinance placed on its
third reading and final passage.This motion was seconded by Alderman Jackson and received the fo
following vote; Ayes Alderman Harding, Jackson, i,Iintun, Phillips, Price; nays none c.bsent and no
voting Alderman Drake, and ,as declared passed by the I::ayor. The vote on the passage of the Ordi
nance wgs;- ayes Aldermen Harding, Jackson, Idintun, Phillips, Price, nays none, absent and not
voting Alderman Drake. The mayor declared the Ordinance passed,and a copy is as follows -

ville, r_rkansas,a cert.in Improvement District known as School Avenue Improvement District Numb
ber One of the City of Fayetteville, Akrmnsas,;
"H: it is the policy of the City of Fayetteville to aid in the constructing and main-
taining of permanent streets, constructed under the improvement district plan;and
IMREAS,the City of Fayetteville has ssumed part of the expense of improving streets in
other improvement districts;

SLCTION ONE:That hhere is hereby appropriated out of the General Fund of the City of
Fayetteville, Arkansas,the sum of Sixty-five Hundred Dollare,ot be used by the Board of
Commissi ners of School Avenue Improvement District Number One of the City of Fayetteville, P_rka
ansas,in permanently paving the intersections of all streets within said Improvement District,
and otherwise germ.nently impriving the same.
S�CTIOIT TCIO; That the City Clerk of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,be, and he is hereby,
' instructed to draw ten warrants of equal amovntc,in favor of hhomsoever said Board of Commission
exp ers may designate,and at such times as said Board may request, not to exceed in the
aggregate,however, the sum of Sixty-five Hundred Dollars. Said ten warrants dhall be drawn seri
ally, so that one warrant shall become due and payable each year after date of Issue.
SECTION THREE;That this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its
passage, a,•proval and publicatich.

The Fire Committee was directed to investigate the financial condition of the Fire Dept.
in order to ascertain its ability to buy some new equipment.
No further business appearing, the Council adjourned* to July 23rd ,1924.
