The requests of Mrs I;Iarinoni and Airs ';iilkins for•permision to cut the pavement on Ida Avenue for the purpose of making sewer connections,was granted provided that the work be done under the supervision of the Uity Engineer.�yn Permission was granted to Capt. Hooper The Guards to run the Search Light `Truck over the paved Streets. 1 On motion duly put and carried the Clerk was directed to notify the City Collector to accept one half the license fee,as specified in the list of license fees from merchandise brokers. A building permit was granted to J.H.licIlroy,subject to the approval of the City Engineer No further business appearing the Council adjourned. 4 Attest, Approved, Clerk. Chairman pro tem. ' ADJOURNED AfEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL JULY 2nd 1924. Pursuant to motion recorded at page 922,this :.Record,the Council met at the usual hour. The Mayor being absent, the Clerk called the Council to order,and on motion by Alderman harding,seconded by Alderman Llintun and carried by the unanimous vote of the members present Alderman Phillips was chosen as Chairman pro tem. ' The roll call -showed ;present Aldermen Drake, Harding, Mintun and Phillips; absent Aldermen Jackson and Price. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. George A Hurst, Attorney for 7.est Meadow Street Improvement District Plumber One, and for South College Avenue Improvement District Number One was present and addressed the Council. Llderman Harding moved that the hearing as to the appeals from ';:est Meadow Street Improvement District Number One be continued'to July 16th,at 7;30 p.m. thereof. This motion was seconded by A Alderman Drake, and received the following vote; Ayes Aldermen Drake, Harding, Mintun, Phillips; Nays, none; Absent and not voting, Aldermen Jackson and Price,and was declared passed by the Chairman pro tem. Alderman warding also moved that the hearing on the appeals from South College Avenue Improve`" ment District Number One be continued to July 23rd, 1924 at 7;30 p.m. thereof. This motion was seconded by -Alderman Drake, and received the following vote; Ayes, Aldermen Drake, Harding,Idintun Phillips, Nays none; Absent and not voting, Aldermen Jackson and Price,and was declared passed by the Chairman pro tem. The Appeal of Airs I.:.IS.Albright from the assessment in Hill Avenue Improvement District Number one :,Us read to the Council, whereupon,after discussion thereof and comparison of the assessment with the other assessments in the same District,in which discussion LIr. iib. Stone as the repre- sentative of Airs Albright tcok part and agreed that the assessment seemed fair and equitable, Alderman Harding moved that the appeal be denied and that the assessment stand -as made by the Board of Assessors fo the said Hill Avenue Improvement District Number One. This motion was seconded by Alderman Drake and received the following vote; Ayes Aldermen Drake, Harding, Mintun, Phillips; Nays, none; Absent and not voting Aldermen Jackson and Price;and was declared passed by the Chairman prop tem. ^he appeal of the Catholic Sisters wao then read to the Council,and careful comparrison was made with the other assessments within the same District,and after a full discussion in which the Catholic Sisters were represented by I.:r. Jack Ucker, Aldermen Drake moved that in as much as the assessment seemed fair and equitable,the appeal be denied and the assessment stand as made by the Board of assessment of the said Hill Avenue Improvement District'Number One. This motin was sec- onded by Alderman I:iintun and received the following vote; Ayes Aldermen Drake, Harding, Mintun, adn Phillips; Nays none, Absent and not voting Alderman Jackson and Price; and was declared passe OL the Chairman pro tem. The bill cf the Bear State Oil Co. for Oil supplied to the Sanitary Department was presented and on motion by Alderman Harding, seconded by Alderman Drake and carried by the unanimous vote ff the members present was allowed and the Clerk ;ras ordered to issue a warrant for the same in the sum of 6'16.90. The Chairman of the Finance Committee made a report of the condition of the City's finances,showing an estimated deficit in the General Fund for the year 1924 od 0,584.66; and in the Fire Fund ,Ql,004.20; and a balance in the Street Fund of ;8,013.30. The minutes of the two previous meetings were read Al approved. ' The monthly reports of the Police Judge and of the City Collector were reported as correct by the Auditing Committee and on motion b.
