RESOLUTION.
BE IT RESOLV,0 BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILL:`,ARKILNSAS,
That Will Crouch, C.A.Marshall and C.E.Marston,three quallified electors of the City of Faye
etteville,•Arkansas, are hereby appointed to constitute a Board of Assessment of the benefit
to be received by each lot, block or other subdivision of land within west Meadow Street
Improvement Disbtict Number One of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,by reason of the pro-
posed improvement.

REGULAR MEETING
OF THE CITY COUNCIL,HELD JUNE 9th,1924.
Present at rollcall, the Mayor, Clerk, Aldermen Drake, Harding, Jackson and Price,
Absent Aldermen Mintun and Phillips.
The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Visitors being present, the rdg'ular order was suspended,and opportunity was
given them to state there business with the Council; whereupon Mr E.B.t7all pre-
sented a request on behalf of Mrs C.E.Thomason for permission to install a sep-
tic tank on Lot 17, County Court Subdivision of Section 16, the same being a part
of the City. On motion by Alderman Harding, seconded by Alderman Drake, the re-
quest was granted,subject to the supervision and approval of the City Engineer the
motion having been carried by the unanimous vote of the members present.

The bill for the Street Sweeper, $967.50,was allowed and the Clerk was instructed to iss
issue one warrant for the sum of $367.59,payable at once, and to issue one warrant for
9600.00 payable August 9th,1924, in payment of the said bill.
The Auditing Committee reported the following bills as correct and on motion by Alderman
Jackson seconded by Alderman Harding and carried by the unanimous vote of the members per-
cent rewe ordered paid and the Clerk was instructed to draw warrants for the same; -

report of the Street Commissioner for the week ending June7th
was presented and on
motion
was ordered received
and filed. On motiom by Alderman Harding,
seconded by Alderman

and ordered paid and the Clark was directed
to issue warrants

The driver of the Street Sweeper reported for the week, that the expense of running the
Sweeper for the week was $19.00 and the Clerk was directed to issue a warrant to the driver
T.N.,7ebster, for 98.65. balance due him for'services.
At the request of Mr. Bert Lew9s, permission was granted to Hayden Lewis and to James
Lewis to drive an Automobile on the Streets of the City, subject to the approval of the'
Chief of Police.
A petition
from P.F.Davidson
and John P. Smith with reference to
the drainage from a
certain alley
opening upon North
'.7ashington Avenue, was refferred to
the City Engineer,
with power to
take such action as
seemed beer to him.
A petition from Oliver Lollar for permission to divert the course of a branch into
Walnut _1venue was also reffrred t o the City Engineer,with power to act.
On motion by Alderman Jackson, seconded by Alderman Price and carried by the unani-
mous vote of the members present,it wwas ordered that the"City Collector be directed to
issue City Auto Lisence Tags to the members of the Fire Department who owned Autos, free
of charge.
On motion b;, Alderman Harding, sec.nded by Alderman Drake and carried by the unani-
mous vote of the members present, it was ordered that the City Collector be instructed
that free Auto Lisemce tags were not to be issued to members of Boards of Commissioners
or other officers of Improvement Districts
On motion by Alderman Jackson, seconded by Alderman Harding , and carried by the unanimous
vote ofthe members present the Mayor was authorized to purchase an automatic Street Marker
for the painting of parking spaces on the paved Streets.

received, filed, and spread of record; this motion was seconded b;. Alderman Price and recei
ed the following vote; Ayes Aldermen Drake, Harding, Jackson, Price; Nays none; Absent and
not voting, Alderme Kintun and Phillips;the Mayor declared the motion carried.A copy of the

TO THE HONORABLE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE.ARKANSAS:

1 the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,respectfully beg leave to report that we have secured th
' services of Ratliff & Bird,of;the City,:ofrF4ydttevi1le„ AfkansaS;.ci*il,engineers, as engi-
neersof said Improvement Dishrict;that they have made the necessary plans; surveys and esti
mates,to determine the type of pavement to be used within said District, and to determine
the cost of the same. -
Estimates of cost were submitted on various types of pavement, but the type of pave-
ment which has been adopted is commonly known as Asphaltid Pavement,which shall be con-
structed on a base suitable to withstand heavy traffic.
' 11 Detailed estimates of costs and plans,which were prepared by the said Ratliff & Bird,
are submitted herewith for your considertaion.
The highest estimated cosy of said improvement,excl1sive of interset charges, is the
sum of x;301000.00.
To assess the benefits against the different lots, blocks and parcels of realestate
within said District, we recommend that your Honorable Body appoint by Resolution, as
Assessors,the following qualified electors of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,to-wit;
J.R-.Winchester, Vl.L.Crouch, and W.E.Graham.

the 9th day of June, 1924,there was presented to the said City Council,by Earl Shook, H.E,
Eason,and J.R.Bates,as the Board of Improvement of West Spring Street Improvement District
Number One of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,their report, together with the plans of
the work to be done in the construction of the improvement contemplated by said Improve-
ment District, and the said report having been read in open meeting of said Council,and
said plans having been exhibited to said Council,and to each member thereof,with a full and
complete explanation of all the details thereof,and it appearing from said plans,that the
estimated cost of theconstruction of said improvement,exclusive of interest charges, and
inclusive of contingencies, is the sum of $30,000.00,and tha said Council being satisfied
that the said plans will best subserve the purpose of said Improvement District,and that
the same are correct';
NOW.THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CI`T'Y COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,ARKANSA
SECTION ONE:That said plans, and said report, be, and the same are hereby approved and amp
adopted,and that said improvement be cc nstructed according to said plans,and at a cost not
.to exceed,exclusive of interest charges, and inclusive of contingencies,the sum of $30,000.
SECTION TVIO;That all Resolutions and parts of Resolutions in conflict' herewith be, and the
same are hereby, repealed -,and this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and
after its passage and approval.
