REGULAR LI KING OF THE CITY COUNCIL,HELD I,= 12th91924.
In the absence of the.Mayor, the Council was called to order by the Clerk,and on motion by
Alderman Price,seconded'by Alderman Harding, Alderman Phillips was elected as Chairman pro
tem, by the following vote, Ayes Aldermen Harding, Jackson, IvIintun, Price; Nays none, Alderman
Phillips not voting; absent alderman Drake,
Chairman pro tem Phillips assumed the Chair, and the Manuted of the previous meeting were
read and approved.
There being a number of Citizens present, the regular order was suspended,and a Petition
.from a number of Citizens living on North Willow Avenue was presented , praying that the blast
ing of rock in the quarry on North Willow be prohibited. This Petition was discused by the
Citizens interested, and by Lir. French, of the Moreno-Burkham Constr. Co., and after some dela�rl
it was ordered b, the Council,on motion by Alderman Jackson, seconded by Alderman Idintun and
carried by the un nimous vote of the Members present, that the blasting of rock in the said
quarry shall cease until further notice from the Council, and the Clerk was directed to so not

Railway Co.; and May 19th was set as the date for a hearing 'on said complaints.
On motion by Alderman Jackson,seconded by Alderman Harding,and carried by the unanimous vote
of the Idembers present,the hbshire-Bryan Taotor Cc was authorized to purchase a Trailer for the
Street Sweeper,at a cost not to exceed X50.00
On motion by AlderTan Harding seconded by Alderman Mintun,and carried by the unanimous
vote of the members present, the same Company was authorized to purchase a tank for the
Sprinkler Attachment to the Street Sweeper,at a cost not to exceed 9"'50.00.
On motion by Alderman Harding seconded by Alderman Llintun and carried by the inanimous vot
of the members present, the Street Committee was authorized to employ a Driver for the Street
Sweeper,and to take the necessary steps to put the Sweeper into operation at the earliest
possible date,and to discharge the present force of Street Cleaners as soon as the Sweeper was
put into service.
On motion by Alderman Jackson, seconded b;, Ald.rman I.Iintun and carried by the unanimous vo
vote of the members present,the Clerk was directed to notify the Commissioners of ':Jest Lafayet
revenue Improvement Dietrict,namely;- Messrs 'Wages, Nettleship and Holcomb, that they are re-
quested to meet with the Council on the 26th of May,1924, to discus the matter of making
needed repairs on !'test Lafayette Avenue.
The reports of the Police Judge and the City Collector were returned by the Auditing
Cokmittee and on motion were ordered filed.
The -account of J.I:.Shelley for work done in finishing the Clean-up work ,amounting to N20
was allowed and on motion duly put and carried the Clerk was directed to issue a warrant for
the same.
The report of the Street Commissioner for the week ending May 10th was ordered filed,and
on motion duly put and carried the Clerk was directed to issue warrants for the payment of
the street laborers as follows; -
Geo. Reed, $27.50; Charlie Wulcox, $18.00; Doc Taylor, $11.25; and E.K.Hooper for 145
loads of dirt, 436.25
The following accounts against the City were reported as correct by the Auditing Com-
mittee, and on motion duly put and carried, the Clerk was directed to issue warrants for the
payment thereof;-toviit,

The following accounts against the City were presented, and on motion were refferred to

Alderman ISintun seconded by Aderman Price moved that the Chairman of the Light Committee in
spetc.the Camp ground and decide on the number and location of lights to be placed therein.This
' motion was carried by the unanimous vote of the Members present.
Alderman Harding seconded b; Alderman Jackson moved that the Street Committee be directed to
open and repair the Street on the ';lest side of the Camp Ground. This motion was carried by the un
animous vote of the members present.
Alderman Harding seconded by Alderman Jackson moved that the Fire Committee be authorized to
purchase new nozzle for the fore hose ,which moyion was duly put and carried by the Unanimous
vote of the members present.
On motion duly put and carried ,building permits were granted to Mrs I.i.Li.Galloway;
Gus Taylor; Mrs ''i.H.Johnson; and I.'ll.Guisinger.
On motion by Alderman .2Itntunand seconded by Alderman Harding the City engineer was directed
to establish a grade for the construction of a sidewalk on the East Front of Lot 6, Block 27
Jennings Addition to the City of Fayetteville. Is

power to act.
No further business appearing ,the Council adjourned.
