On motion made by Ald.Harding,seconded by A1d.Mintun and carried by the unanimous vote of the Council,the dity of Fayetteville obligated itself to provide the necessa- ry funds to.pay for grading and rolling South Block Street from South Street to Rock Street, provided the citizens residing on this Street raise stfficient funds to finance the paving of said Street. The following Resolution was introduced by Ald. Price,who moved its adoption;.this motion was seconded by Ald. Harding and the vote thereon was as follows:,Ayes, Aldermen Price, Harding,Jackson,Stephens,Mintun, Nayes: None. The IGayor then declared the Resolution adopt- ed and a copy of said Resolution is as follows: n n RESOLUTION: 40 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,ARKANSAS: That F.S.Raedels, Jeff L.Davis, and F.P.Hall, three qualified electors of"the City of'Fay- etteville,Arkansas, are hereby appointed to constitute a Board of Assessment of the'benefits to be received by each lot or block,or other subdivision of land,within the limits of Annex Number One to University Improvement District Number One of the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas,by reason of the proposed improvement. Harding presented to the Council a proposition in regard to the paving a portion of East Center Street between the Court House and the Ozark Theater building. On motion made by Ald. Harding,seconded by A1d.Jackson and carried by the unanimous vote of the Council,the City of Fayetteville obligates itself to pay one-third of the cost of paving East Center Street from the East line of North College Avenue,thence Erasith Sixty-six(66) feet on'said East Center Street, provided that Washington County and Mr J.M.Williams pay the remaining two-thirds of the cost of said paving,and further provided that the total cost of the City's one-third of this paving shall not exceed the sum of Two Hundred t $ 200.00) Dollars. 889 Mr G.A.Hurst appeared before the Council and made a statement regarding his fee for perform- ing the necessary preliminary legal work in Annex No.I. To West La Fayette Improvement District Number One of the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas;and on motion made by A1d.Jackson,seconded by Ald. Price and carried by the following vote: Ayes, Aldermen Price,Harding,Jackson,Stephend, IVfintun, Nayes; None,and so declared by the Mayor, Aldermen Harding, Mintun,and Price were ap- pointed a Committee to confer with the Board of Commissioners of Annex Number One to West La- Fayette Avenue Improvement District Number One of the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas,as'to the payment of the fee to Mr -Hurst for the work done'by Mr.Hurst for said Improvement District, The City Eiigineer appeared before the Council in reference to a "Dummy Policeman Traffic Light " to be installed at the intersection of East Center Street and College Avenue;and also in regard to the opening of the alley in rear of .the old Oriental Hotel,said property now being owned by ldr.Ward. On motion made by Ald. Harding,seconded by Ald.Jackson and carried by the unanimous vote of the Council,the City Attorney was directed by the Council to investigate the legal side of the question of opening said alley and to make a Report thereon at the next meet- ing of the Council. ' Ald. Jackson made a state ment to the Council in reference to the grading of Leverett Street ,East of the limits of University Improvement District Number One of The City Of Fayetteville,Arkansas. On motion made by Ald.Jackson,seconded by Ald.Mintun and carried by the unanimous vote of the Council ,further filling of Leverett Street was authorized by the Council, the dirt used in making this fill to cost not to excee d twenty-five cents per load. Harding and passed by the unanimous vote of the Council said Report was filed and the Clerk directed to issue warrants to cover labor and materials shown by said Report as follows: Charlie Wilcox, $ 7.50; Walton Sexton, 3.00; Frank Williams, w I8.75. The following bills against the City were submitted to the Council,and on motion made by Ald. The following applications to errect buildings were submitted to the Council,and on motion made by.Ald. Hall ,business house; Berl Dodd; residence. The Report of the Board of Improvement of Annex Number One to University Improvement District Num- ber One of the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas,ffisregard to plans and specifications of said Annex was submitted to the Council,and on motion made by Ald. Jackson,seconded by Ald. Harding,and carried by the unanimous vote of the Council,this bill was allowed and the Clerk was directed to issue a warrant drawn on the General Fund to Mr. Byrnes for a 750.00. Ordinance No. 508 was introduced and read for the first time;whereupon Ald.
