The Council was called to order by the Liayor at 7;30,P.i.1.
Present;- The 1payor, Clerk, Aldermen Jackson, 1.1intun, Phillips, Price, and Stephens.

.'he minutes of the previous meeting were read and.approued.
The i..ayor announced the Council ready to consider the Protests against the assessments
of benefits in Idont :'ord Improvement District,whereupon 11r. Bruce Holcomb presented a
protest against the hearing at this time,which protest was signed by Bruce Holcomb,Daisy Y..
Holcomb, ..:rs, J,J.Vaulx, Julia Vaulx, Adn Harrison Hale.
On motion by Alderman Price, seconded by Alderman I,Tintun,the above protest was ordered
received and filed.
"rhe Council then proceeded with the hearing by having the Clerk read the protest of l.Ir.
Bruce holcomb and Daisy Y.Holcomb .
1.1r, Holcomb the n addressed the Council, stating his reasons for protesting against the
assessment against his property.
' Dr. IT.F.Drake,of the Board of Commissioners replied,explaining the method pursued by thL
assessorsa
rhe protests of Ills J.J.Vaulx, Julia Vaulxand"Harrison Hale were then read by the Clem
and ur. Hale presented his arguments against the assessment of his and the Vaulx Properties.
Arguments were presented,also by G.A.Hurst, attorney for the District,Prof, Stelzner
and Lr. F.O.Gulley, of the Beard of Commissioners;and an informal discussion by the parties
interested followed,during ,hich lar. Holcomboffered to agree to an assessment of N85.00
instewd of .;198.00,
Following the discussion,Alderman Phillips,seconded by AldermanPrice,mo.ed that the
further consideration of the Protests and Appeals of Bruce Holcomb and rife, ..Irs. J.J.and
Julia Vaulx,and Dr. Hale be postponed to I:ionday January22nd, 1923,at 7;30 P.l:1.
This motion was duly put and carried.
On motion by Alderman Jackson, seconded by Alderman Stephens, the following accounts

Section One. The term "taxi cab",as used in this Ordinance is meant to include and�1
� es include,any and all motor driven vehicleyoperated on the public streets of Fayettevii&,
lor the purpose of transporting passengers fol hire,
Section Two. The city license for each and every taxi cab within the City of Faev
/ etteville, Arkansas,shall be and is hereby established at the rate of Twenty-five(25,00)
CIP��for one year,payable in advance. No license shall be issued for a greater or less period
t ne year,and all such license shall be issued as of Januar 1st of January the year during
ch the same i granted, and, shall expire on the last day of December following in each
year. I'o reduction in the cost of the license shall be made, regardless of the date upon
(ch the same is issued or granted. In no case shall any license issued under the
authority- contained in this Ordinance be transferable,and any attempt to transfer the
ane Skull render such license void.

Section Three. The said license shall be issued by the City Collector a numbered

Section Six. That this Ordinance shall be cumulative to all other Ordinances regardA
the regulation of motor driven vehicles,the eetablishiiiR of taxi cab stands and the regula
tion of traffic,and shall repeal only such parts of such Ordinancesas are in direct conflic
herewith.

the services of an Atorney to assist in representing the City in the Light Sate Case.
