On motion of Alderman Harding, Alderman Price was chosen as Chairman Pro -tem.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read, corrected and approved.

and tie Collector,and the accounts against

as listed below,were on motion referred
to the Auditing Committee;-

At this time the mayor enteredand relieved Alderman Price of his duties as Chairman.
The matter of remitting the sewer tax of those who had recently put in a private
sewer line at their ocm expense via spresented ,but it was the opinion of the Council as voiced
by the Itayor, that it could not be done lawfully.
Protests against the assessments in IvIont Ford Improvement District ,by Lirs.J.J. and
Julia Vaulx, i.ir. and Ers. Bruce Holcomb,and Harrison Hale were read to the Council, whereupon
Alderman Price, Seconded by AldermanHarding moved that Lionday, January 8th, 1923, at 7;30 p.m.
be set as the time for a hearing on the above named protests. This motion was duly put and
carried, and the Clerk was directed to notify the parties protesting.
lir. Bruce Holcomb,of the Library Boa-rd,was present and informed the Council that
the plan for financing the City Library had been completed b;; the agreement of twelve organi-
zations to support the same for one month each, and -requested the Council to appoint some one
as the representative of the City on the Board of Control. ':.hereupon alderman Harding,seconded:
by alderman Jackson, moved that Lliss Julia Vaulx be reouested to act as such member of the
Board. The motion was duly put and carried.
On motion by Alderman Harding, seconded by Alderman I:Iintun, permission eras granted
to Trollinger cc Pannell to occupy the Iorth-East corner of the Public Square as a Taxi stand
for two cars,the place to be particularly designated by the I.;ayor,and also to -place a telephonV,
on...ast 3treet,at a place to be agreed on.
I.ir. H.L.Cravens presented a petition,singed by fourteen citizens, for an improve-
ment distiict,crhich eras read to the Council,and on motion by Alderman Price, seconded by Alder-
man Harding,and carried by the unanimous vote of the members present,the petition was orP.ered r

to secure prices on steam and electric sirens.
The Committee composed of the City Attorney and the City Engineer reported that they
had found that the open space immediately North of the Ozark Theatre was not 'a public Alley,

to enter into a contract for the purchase and installation of a steam siren at a cost of

The report of the City ngineer on the Johnson Spring investigation vias presented
and read to the Council,and on motion was ordered received and filed*
the matter of the proposition of 1.L�. Byrnes to donate to the City certain lands was
refa-rred to the City Attorney for investigation.
