Jackson, Professor Drake appeared before the Council and asked that the Council take steps to have certain streets be exchanged with he and Mr. Trent, City taking deed to certain streets for other lands for street purposes, also extendf ing Davidson Avenue West. Whereupon, Ald. Harding moved that the same be referred to the Street Committee and they report at the next meeting which was duly see, by Ald. Massie. Resulted in the following vote: Ayes: Ald . Ham, Harding, Massie, Price, Stephens. Nayes: None. Absent, not voting, Ald. Jackson. The Iaayor declared the motion adopted. Professor Drake also asked the City to cut down the grades on West Maple Street and have sidewalks and gutter ordered in along Maple Street ' between Mock Street and Forrest Avenue. The minutes of thela previous meetings were read and approved. Reports of the City Officials for the month of July were reported as correct by the Finance Committee. Whereupon, Ald. Massie moved that the reports be filed which was duly sed. by Ald. Harding, Resulted in the vollowing vote: Ayes, Ald. Ham, Harding, Massie, Price, Stephens. Nayes: None. Absent, not voting, Ald. Jackson. The Mayor declared the motion adopted. Absent, not voting, Ald. Jackson. The Mayor declared the motion adopted. Ald. Massie moved that sidewalks be ordered in on East Sutton St. betteen/illow Avenue Walnut Street as requested by citizens in a petition previously filed, and Clerk have notices issued. This was duly sec. by Ald. Harding. Resulted in thefollowing vote: Ayes: Ald. Ham, Harding, Massie, Price, Stephens. Nayes: None. Absent, not voting, Ald. Jackson. The Mayor declared the motion adopted. Ald. Harding moved that the petition of J. L. Leibolt for a permit for a minor to drive a car be referred to the Chiel of Police with power to act, which was duly sec. by Ald. Ham. The motion was put and, carried. The following report of the Fire Committee was read to -wit: "We your committee (appointed on Aug. 7th. to investigate the question of purchasing another Pumping aparatus) would respectfully recommend. That Fayetteville is now as well supplied with Fire'Fighting Aparatus as most any City of its size. That you do not purchase any additional apnratus until such time as the sinking fund of our fire department gill allow us to pq all or nearly all of the price in cas h. Also -.Then rre do buy an additional machine it should be of 300 or 400 gallon size which t more suitable to the size of our water mains. Vie .consider a 750 gallon machine entirely too large for any of our maind, and that it would have to be run ±=. at too low a speed to give any ' satisfaction and with ou' small mains swould not be as efficient as the smaller machines. Ordinance duly passed and a copy is as follows ORDINANCE 462. AN ORDINANCE TO BE ENTITLED, "AN ORDINANCE TO FUITHER REGULATE THE PARKING OF VEHICLES CIITHIN THE CITY OF FAYisTTEVI LL:. , X3 YANSAS." BE IT ORDAINED By the City Council of the City of Fayetteville', Arkansas: Section One, The City Council is hereby authorized to establish by duly adopted Resolution certain parts of streets ip-the congested section of. the City of Fayetteville, upon which no vehicle,/ r6' whatsoever kind, may be allowed to park. Section Two. Vlhen any such resolution is so adopted, such space upon which no parking is to be allowed shall be plainly designated by painted lines, or in some other plain and clear manner as "No Parking." Section Three. It shall be deemed a violation of this Ordinance for any person or persons to park any vehicle, of whatsoever kind, within or upon the space designated as "No Parking," as set forth in Section Two of t_is Ordinance. ' Section Four. Any person or persons violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof in the Police Court shall be punished by a fine of not less than One ($1.00) Dollar nor more than Twenty-five $25.00) Dollars for each offense; and each time any person or persons shall p.:rk toy vehicle within or ul:on L.ny space designated as "No Parking," shall constitu`•e a 0 W Fl� CI separate offense. Hatding introduced an Ordinance prohibiting the parking of automobiles on the streets all night, which was read the first time. Where- upon, Ald. Massie moved that the Ordinance be referred to the Ordinance Committee and report at4the next meeting which wasseduly sec. by Ald. Price. Resulted in the following vote: Ayes: Ala. Harding moved that the Southwestern Telephone Co. be directed to move the pole at the intersection of Dickson & Rolston St. on the mast side ten feet, and Clerk be instructed to furnish a copy of this motion to the Telephone Co., which was duly sec. by Ald.
