This meeting was called for the purpose of taking up unfinished business. A petition from a number of•residents protesting against the erection of an.addition to -the Veterinary Hospital was read to the Council,and Idfr.Davis and I:Tr 11iller was present and spoke for the Petition,also Dr Standford was present and presented his side of the case,after'some discussion Ald 11assie moved that the petition be received and filed, which was duly sec by Ald Ham, resulted in the following vote,Ayes Ald- Ambrose,Ham,Harding,Ilassie,Stephens,6'lages,Nayes none,Absent and not voting none, Llayor declared the motion adopted: The Pole Ordinance was called up,Ald Harding moved that therules be further suspended and the Ordinance be placed on its third reading ezld final passagewhich was duly Sec by Ald ';!ages, resulted in the following vote Ayes Ald Ambrose,TTem.Harding,Idas•:ie, Stephens,"Jages.Nayes none,Absent and not voting none,Mayor declared the motion adopted. AN ORDINANCE TO BE ENTITLED, " AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE LOCATION I OF TEai',PHONE, TELEGRAPH AITD ELECTRIC LIGHT POLES 1P7ITHIN TIT'; CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,ARKAITSAS ." BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUITCIL OF THE. CITY OF FAYETT; VILLE,ARYAITSAS: N4 Section 1 Thtat all telephone,telegraph and electric light poles, within the ,M ep corporate limits of the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas, shall be erected on the d 0 curb line of the sidewalks of said Streets, so that one half of said poles shall be within the outside•line of said curb and one half shall be on the outside of said outside curb lin. Provided, that on Streets which have a parking e ing said poles shall be erected at a point and on a line to be designated by the City Engineer of the said City of Fayetteville.. Section 2. That if any Telephone Company,Telegranh Company or Electric.Light Company shall fail,refuse or neglect to is so erect any of its said poles,.agter,30 days notice in writing from the City Council of the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas, �(/y1 so to do,said Telephone Company Telegraph Company or Electric Light Company shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and -upon conviction thereof, shall be fined in any sum not less than Twenty-five (k25.00) Dollars nor more than One Hundred 0100.00) Dollars, and each day of such £ailure,refusal or neglect, shall constitute a seperate offense, and shall be punishable as above provided. Section 3. Th all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be, and the same are ereby,repealed,\and this ordinance shall take effect, and be in force from and W ter its pas sage�, aj9ja-xo.ya,1 and -publication. Ala Ambrose introduced theffollowing resolution and moved its adopti•on,to-wit: R.ESOLUTIOi'T. BE -IT RESOLV_D BY THE CITY COUECIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETT EVILm,AI?KAITSAS: Section 1. That the Arkansas Railroad Commission be, and th-ey are hereby respectfully urged and requested to issue a proper order requiring the St.Louis & San Fransico Railway Company to erect a new modern depot in the City of Fayetteville, and to equip the same commensurate with the exigincies of the occassion. Section 2. That the City Clerk be, and he is hereby,requested to furnish the said Railroad Commission with a certified cony of this resolution. A Petition from A.Carlton and others asking the Council to order in sidewalks on the north side of the Huntsville road was read, whereupon Ald Massie moved that the Petition be received and granted and the Clerk to issue notices to property owners to put in sidewalks on the North side of the Huntsville road from Carlton's to the Willows Street, which was duly sec by Ald :'!ages, resulted in the following vote Ayes Ald Ambrose,Ham,Harding,I.assie, Stephens .7iages .11ayes none,Absent and not voting none,I.fayor declared the motion adopted. A communication from the City Engineer was read to the Council in regard.to the wiork he has charge of and requesting that a committee be appointed to go over the matter with him, whereupon Ald Ambrose moved that the Hayor appoint a committe e to confer with theCity Enginaer and map out a system and plans for carrying out the work more efficiently, which was duly sec by A-ld Harding, resulted in the following vote Ayes Ald Ambrose,Ham,Harding,Ilassie,Stephens,?'iages,Nayes none,Absent and not voting none.Mayor declared the motion adopted and appointed Ald Ambrose,Harding and Wages as the committee. Ald Harding moved that the LTayor obtain bids on a foot bridge on Prairie Avenue and submit them back to the Council, which eras duly sec by Ala I,Lassie, motion was put and carried.
