REGULAR I.211TING CITY COUNCIL HELD JANUARY 7th,1921.

The minutes of the previous meetings was read and approved. The reports of the various
City Officals for the month of December was read whereupon Ald Harding moved that the
reports bmx be referred to the Finance Committee for investigation which was duly Sec
by Ald Wages, resulted in the following vote,Ayes Ald Ambrose,Ham,Hardi:.g,L✓iassie,Stephens,
`ages.Hayes none,Absent and not voting none, i:iayor declared the motion adopted.
The following accounts against the City for the month of December was read, to -wit!;

Ald Lassie introduced An Ordinance reducing the width of Walnut Street which was read the
first time, whereupon Ala Ambrose moved that the rules beX9ffKKNXXB suspended and the
Ordinance -be placed upon its second reading which was duly sec by,,Ald Massie, resulted in
the following vote Ayes Ald Ambrose,Ham,Harding,Alassie,Stephens,`,lages,Nayes none,Absent and
' not voting none,,I1ayor declared XXX the motion duly adopted.
Ala Lassie moved that the rulee be further suspended and the Ordinance be placed upon its
third reading and final passage, which was duly sec by Ald Wages, resulted in the following
vote,Ayes Ald Ambrose ,Ham, Harding,I,assie,Stephens,ilages,lTayes none,Absent and not voting
none,I.layor declared the motion adopted,

AN ORDINANCE REDUCIT?G THE IYIDI'H OF 1VALI7UT STREET.
WHE12AS, The street,locally known and designated as Walnut Street in the City of
Fayetteville,.irkansas,is sixty feet wide, and, Whereas, on account of the location of
said street and the character of the•ground fiver which said street has been laid out and
eestablished is so rough, uneven and rocky and extends over and across ground Vihereit
is' illy
possible to make a street over which the rublis might pass and use for the general
ublic convenience and,
1'r REAS, said street is so located and situated that same is practically worthless to
the Public and has not been nor can be used by the public without the outlay of expenses
ma.ing same prohibitive, and,
'JHE,'.REAS, if said street should be reduced in width by taking twenty feet of RX equal
and uniform width off of the East side of said street from a point where said street
' intersects East Spring Street on the North to a point at the Southern extremity of said
street thereby reducing the width of said street from sixty feet to forty feet that said
street so reduced to the width of forty feet could and would be op.ned up and placed in
good condition for the public use and convenience without any expense to the City of
Fayetteville,Arkansas.

Section 1. That said :9alnut street locally known as 'lalnut street in the City of
Fayettevil:-e,Arkanses, be and the same is by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville,
Arkansas, be and the same is hereby reduced in width by taking 20 feet of equal and uniform
width'off of the East side of said street from a point where said'street interesects East
S ring Street in said City to the Southern extr_mity of said Walnut Street and that said
strip of 20 feet along the said East side of said street is by said City VBX±Eft vacated
and said part of said street so vacated shall hereafter not be known nor remain as any
part or parcel -of said '.?alnut street as the same is now located and locally known as
such, and said strip shall not hereafter be known, taken -used or ''designated as a part
of any street,alley or thorough fare of said City of Fay�etteville,Arkansas.
Section 2. That the City of Fayetteville,rkansas, hereby releases all claims, rights,
title or interest of any kind or nature whatsoever in and to said 20 foot strip off of
and along the East side of said 'Jalnut street, locally known as such where the amE same
is now located and extending from a point where said 171alnut street interesects East
Spring Street in the City of Fayettevil.e,Arkan_as, and extending South to the Southern
extremity of said street.
Section 3. That all Ordinances and resolutions of the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas,
in conflict r,±thx herewith, be and the same are hereby repealed.

' the sum of X12,500.00 for the building of the annex to the City Hospital, to be 1�d
issued in yearly warrants of :72500.00 each for five years, Ald Llassie moved that the
City Attorney draw proper resolution authorizing the issue of said warrants, which was
dgly sec by Ald Ham,resulted in the following vote, Ayes Ald mbrose.Ham.Harding,Tdassie,

t'he following Petition was presented and read,to-wait:-
TO TH13 CITY COITHOIL OF THC CITY OF FAYETTEVILIE,ARILUISAS.
The undersigned,your petitioners, would respectfully represent and show that a
petition sighed by more than Ten (10) property owners in the City of Fayetteville,
.irkansas,and within the territory described within said petition,was presented to your
Honorable Body on the 5th day of November,1920, praying that your Body take all necessary
steps for the cr:ation of an Improvement District,
embraced in the territory described
in said petition,for the purpose of improving by grading,rolling and macadamizing the
following streets and parts of streets,as may be more fully determined hereafter by the
Board of Improvement of said District, to -wit:
Davidson Street, from the East line of College Avenue to the ','lest line of 71ill0w
Avenue; llashington Avenue, from the liorth,line of Dickson Street to the South line

of Davidson Street; Willow Avenue, from the North line of Yjsz Dickson Street to the
South line of Rebecca'Street; Sutton Street, from the East fine of Washington Avenue to
the East line of Walnut Avenue; Olive Avenue, from the -North linejof Lafayette Street,
to the South•line of %aple Street; Lafayette Street, from the East line of College Avenue,
to the West line of Hission Avenue; and Walnut Avenue, from the north line of Sutton
Street to the South line of i:aple Street.
That your Honorable Body passed an Ordinance -Numbered 410 laying off the territory
described in said petition, and herein set £orth,which Ordinance was duly passed on the
3rd day of December.1920.,
That the said MYNIXY H Ordinance was duly published in the '! Fayetteville Democrat "
within twenty days drafter its passage, under the hand of the Clerk of the said City.
WHEREFORE, the undersigned owners of real property situated a;ithin the district
described within the said petition and Ordinance herein set forth; pray that such
improvement be undertaken,and that the cost thereof be assessed and charged upon the
real property situated within such district,and that the said district -be for the purpose
of carrying out the improvement herein set forth.

7:30 P.T.I. of said day.
