merchants around the squa.,re and collected the sura of $13.50 towards the cleaning up of #�
the city wagon yard,

.PHEREAS,it has recently been determined by a Court of competetent jurisdiction
that cities in the state -of Arkaneas havenostatuary right to regulate the rates tube
charged by telephone companies for se -,vices rendered by said cam-;anies.
patrons of the said company are thus left at the absolute mercy of the
company and fire thus comneledd _to.pa.y such _rat_es -as they -.see fit, tq-_mnke,re.gardless of_
-- the services rendered therefor.

propotion to the rates charged for such services.
iNHERA9; Siad telephone company has recently increased the rates to be charged
for theiti: seruices :vithout giving to their patrons the service to which they a.re dntitled
NO!9 THERFOR BE+IT -RESOLVED BY THE CI -TY COUNCIL OF THE CITY-OF-FAYETTEVILLE-,
ARKANSAS:
That our. Senator_and..Representative» be-respectfully.request.ed-and urged to us
use their every effort in securing the passage of a Bill in the present Legislature
giving cities of the first and second class the right to regulate the rates to be charged
by telephone companies,the same as they now have the right to
regulate the rates to be
charged by any water copmpeny „a.s or electric light rlent.

STREET LIGHTS FURNISHED TO THE CITY OF FAYE'TTEV ILL E,ARKANSAS BY THE FAYETTEVILLE GAS AND
ELECTRIC COMPANY,AND PROVIDING -FOR THE MINI:^.IUM. NUMBER OF LIGHTS TO .BE-.FURNISHED,AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAIN7D ,BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYEElEVILLE,ARKANSAS:
S "'ction 1.A charge for street lights furnished to the City of Fayet.t.eville,
Arkansas by'the Fayetteville Ga.s and Elctric Co##7j71t1 Company shall be as followsTowit•_
One hundred(100) Candle Pourer lamps, $1.65 per lamp per Mo.
Sixty (60) Candle Pourer lamps, $ 1.00 per lamp per lip.
Section2. The above rates shall apply to all street lights +vith'A' the
exception of those used in the ornamental standards around thepuulic square and on
- Dixon street the rate which shal-1 be as -fol-lows- towit:- -- --
Sixty (60) Platt lamps $1.10 per lapp per. Mo.
One hundred (100) .gait lamps $1.50.per Lamp per.Mo.
Section 3.All street lights are to burn from dusk until tv.,elve O'clock
midnight each'and every night.
Section 1V. The minimum number of lights to be used by the said City
of Fayetteville Arkansas,under the terms of this ordinance# shall be as follows towit:

One hundred ani Forty Two (142) lights of 60 candle power:
Sixty (60) lights of 60-watte and; - - -- - - -
Ten (10) lights of 100 wat4s.
Section V.The City of Fayetteville,A-rkansa:s,-shall -have--the -richt- rnd--authority to
increase the number of lights so furnished,at their option,at the rate herein provided.

Febuary lst,1919.provided the. same is accepted in writing ,by the said Fayetteville Gas and
