This meeting was called for the purpose of taking up the proposed light rate increase
asked by the Light Co. -
The following report was handed in towit:
To- .the. City. Council.. of.Faye.ttevill.e.. -
Your com•ittee,charged with the duty of considering the proposition of the Fa,yettevit
Gas and Elec Co.and making relcomendations thereo_n,renorts as follows:
Wheras the Fayetteville Gas and Blect-Cosby and with the consent of the City
Council,secured a two year contra ct with the City water Plant for pumping from white

steps to insure their performance of their contract thus forcing the City Council
to spend about 6000.00'to rotect theCit against water�famine;due to the very probable
failure of the inefficient pumping unit provided by the daid company at the wite river
station: - And whereas,the claimed insufficiency of their revenue is probaly due more to
the a.dmitted. inefficiency of _.'their lbant than -to -the inadequacy o,f the rates charged:
And whereas the said rates,together with the method of computing the charges and
the conditions about services to be rendered without chase 'constitute the considrerations
upon which the charter 'of the Fskystt.e.vAlle Gas and Elect `Ce was "granted:
Therefore your committee recommends that the City Council decldsses to make
the changes asked for in the communication bearing the date of •Dune 21,1918,except that
part refer•ing,to the lighting of the streets,and except also that part referring to the
City Hospital.
The section as to the street lighting kias been accepted and your committee asks
further time to conside r the matter -of electric --supply to.the.Hospi.tal.

Nayes none,Kbeent and not voting Ald Syephene,Ma.yor declared the motion adopted.

Mr B R.Dav-idso`n was present 'arid addressed the Council in "behalf of the City
Hospltal Board in regard to'th'e. light rates at the city hospital,after some discussion
by several citizens presenta,n'd the council Ald Hard-ing moved-tha't the commit -tee be
continued and to further consider the Light rate -increase asked 'by the Light Company,
which -was duly' see by Ald Mass-ie,-resulttd-in-the following vote Ayes Aid A-mbrose,Cernwell
Harding, Mass ie, Stephens,Nayem none,Absent and not voting none,?da.yor declared the motion

The Finance committee handed in the reports of the various City Officals for the
month of November,wher.eupon Ald tdassie moved -that the .reports be,received.,which vas -duly

Stephens,Nayes mone,A'bsent-and not voting,none,Mayor declared the motion adopted.

and warrants be drawn for same,that have been O.K. by the_Auditing committee,which was

Massie, Stephens,ra'yes none,Alsent and not voting none,Mayor declared the motion adopted.
