Whereas, there is an openin\ n -the sidewalk on the 4{est side of East Street,along
"the building occupied by the 2?cllroy Drg Goods C mpany, which opening serves as an ain=shaft or'

the windows in the basement of said building, ana which opening is inclosed with an iron railing.

And whereas, the said J.H.McIlro has also asked permission to construct a stairway
from the top_of said opening to the bottom of same and to inclose .the opening necessary for
said stairway with a iron railing.
And whereas; the changes asked b'� the said J.H.Mcllroy would be an improvement over

Now therefore be it resolved by the Council. of the City of Fayetteville,Arka.nsas.

opening with re-inforced glass, to removelth-e railing from around same, to construct a stair

maintain same at all times in good conditiIon.
That this resolution be in force from and after its passage and all resolutions_ or
parts thereof in conflict herewith be and to same hereby are repealed.

The Light Committee reported favorable to have two lights inctalled on the Huntsville
Road -and -one -light upon the corner of Putman and University Streets, thereupon Alda Sour move
that said lights be installed, which motion was duly seconded by Al.d. Phillips and.adopted-by

Aldo_ Sour moved that the rales.rbe further suspended and the meter ordinance be read
the_thardttime-and placed upon its passage, which motion was duly seconded and adopted and
sviid_ordinance _was _read the third time,the question now being shall the ordinance pass? The
roll was called and the following voted "Aye", Cornwell, Price and Sour, "Nays", Eason and
Phillips-,--Notv_oting.-Aldo_ Wright,same failing to receive a majority was therefore not passed.
The Poll Hall ordinance was read the second time ahereupon Aldo Cornwell moved that

Aldo Sour introduced the following resolution and moved its passage, towit_
" RESOLUTION
WHERb.AS, By section 7 of Ordinance No. 317 it is provided that the Fayetteville Gas &
`Electric Company shall on or -before January`lst, 1914,—at-its-own expense -furnish-; erect and -
thereafter maintain twelve mxlal modern metal electric light poles an the Public Square, in the
— 'Ci-ty of Fayetteville -at such points-on-said-Squa-re-as-may-be--designs-ted-by-the_City-Counc.il__of
the City of Fayetteville, and also three modern metal electric light poles on Dickson Street in
- -said Ci-ty, at such points. -as -may -be def3fgmated_by_ said City Council- of_the .City _-of_Fayetteville,_
and, -- -
___ _ WHEREAS, the -said Company_has-heretofore_ contracted for the manufacture and shipment
of said poles, with the Union Metal Manufacturing Company, of Cantori,__Ohio; and- -- -
WHEREAS, the said contract and order was made at a sufficient length of time prior to
the said 1st day of January 1914 t -o -have enabled -said -Gas -&-Electric Company to comply with the -
said requirements by January 1st, 1914, in the absence of unavoidable delay; and

of said poles by the factory, without any fault on part of the Fayetteville Gas & Electric Co„ a y

NOVI, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville,.Arkansas
-that the Fayetteville Gas _& Electric Company be allowed until February 15th, 1914, in which to
erect said electric light poles, as set forth in Section 7 of said ordinance; provided said-

Sam Elliott_presented a written propposition regarding a "Park Proposition", which was
