Present, Mayor and Clerk, Aidermen, Cornwell, Eason, Price, Phillips, Sour and -Wright absent,- none. d The Mayor stated the object of the meeting was the cfurther consideration of an ;,ordinance entitled, " An ordinance granting certain rights, privileges and franches to the ;the"Fayetteville Gas & Electric Company for lighting the streets, alleys, parks and other public places in the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, by electricity or otherwise, and - "furnishing of -eight and-poi7er to private con9umers-and-operation and -construction of -electric plant and works, " The Fayetteville Gas & Electric Company, by Geo. D.Locke, its President, .submitted and presented to the Council the followingcommunication and proposition : • " To the Cil ty-Counciof-the City -o£ Fayetteville, rk: - -0- --- - " Fayetteville, Ark., Aug. 16th_, 1913.. In the event that the City Council shall pass ----` ordinance now pendinggranting-to-the Fayetteville Gas & -Electric -Cos ariya twenty- five year ,jfranchise, as set forth in said ordinance, and in the event said ordinance is accepted and -- "becomes effective, the Company -hereby agrees as - one-of-the-considerations--for-said-franchise - to furnish free of charge to the City Hospital of the City of Fayetteville, so long as it is - -- 4owned and operated by the City,--electric-current--sufficient to -supply the-needs-of-said-------- dHospital, except for heating -and cooking purposes with electric, stoves, during the life of said franchise, and agrees if -said -franchise ._is -accepted, -and becomes effective-, to -embody lin its acceptance of said franchise, a covenant to furnish said free current -as aforesaid which shall be binding upon its successors --and assigns.
