Combs, Albright, Baum and Paddock_, appeared before the Council and -protest -- — - against the City requiring the property owners on the East side of the Public Square to -lower the sidewalks in front of their respective building to the present --grade._e.s_tablished__ by the. City Engineer, after hearing their objections and etc, the,Liayor_referr-ed-the matter to. the Street Committee for their inspection and report - whereupon Alderman Appletly as _Chairman of said Comm -ittee objected to the motion and same droped after a lengthly discussion by the-C_o_unc Dr. 111elch, member of the Hostinal Board, appeared_ before the Council and -asked the. Alderman Phillips, from the Ordinance Committee iintroduced an Ordinance to regulat -. . To Amend Section. 5, of the General License Ordinance of The City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, No. 187. Be It Ordained by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Ark. Section 1, That Section five of Ordinance Eo. 187, be and the same is hereby amended so as to read as follows :- " Running omnibuses, hacks, drays, express wagons and carts and other vehicles drawn by two horses and used as public carriers, or for job hire; for each wagon or vehichle, per annum, $5.00, six months $2.75, for each 4t&g= automobile, two or more seats, per annum, per annum $5.00, per six months, $2.75. Present — Mayor and Clerk — Aldermen, Appleby, Jobe, ?sight, Phillips and Sour, absent — Alderman Suttle — Minutes of meeting held July 21, 1910 were read, corrected and approved. Alderman Appleby from the Street Committee reported that the time had expired for ',friss Amanda Stone to comply with a notice served upon her to put in a side walk in front her building on the Wert side of the Public Square and desired to have the members of the council ex-ress selves as to whether the City would proceed to fine Miss Stone for her failure to comply with the said notice, or have the City to advertise for bids and put said walk.'in and file a lien against said property for the cost of the walk — after adue deliberation had thereon by the Council it decided that the City advertise for bids and proceed to p.:t said walk in and file a lien against the property.
