Minutes of meeting held June 16, 1910 were read and approved. G. W. Chase, Chairman of the Board of Improvement East Lafayette Avenue Imp._Dist.l i submitted the following -report, _towit " Office of Board of _Improvement _East _Lafayette _Avenue _ _I ,Improvement District No. One, Fayetteville, Ark., June 16, 1910` To the C.ity Council of the --City,of-Fayettev-ille-,_Ark._, The Board -of -_Imp-rovement_Bf-Eas.t_Lafayet.te-Ave.-,_ Improvement Distr_ic No.One, present, thier report and state, that.G.W.Chase, J.L.Carliele and J.J.Knock, members of said Board, after taking the oath prescribed by law, held their first meeting in said City at _ ele-v.e_n_ o' clo ck_A.M.-,_June_16, - 1910-,_ -an d-organized-by_appo.int.ing._G_...W...Chase.,._aa.-Chairman -of - the----, Board, J.L.Carlisle, Trees. and J.J.Knock, Secretary, and then proceeded to form plans for the _4 improvement of East Lafayette Ave., from its intersection with College Ave., East to Olive St in said District as prayed for in the petition of owners of real.estate.therein, said plans embracing the grading, guttering and macadamizing said street with broken stone and ,gravel and - —« ,. -- ---- - - — properly rolling same. Said Board further reports that they have made estimates of the cost of said improvement and that the same will cost the sum of three thousand, exi hundred and fifty five dollars. Wherefore they pray the council to appoint three electors.of said City as a Boar of Assessments to assess the benefits to be received by each lot, block or other subdivision o land within said District by reason of the propeaed improvement,_all of which is_reapectfully l_ submitted. Therefore Alderman. Suttle intvvduced the following resolution-"Reeblve that Will Lewis, _B.F.Campbell - and Bruce Holcomb,_ three _electors _o -f the__C,ity of _Fayetteville,. Arkansas,_be and they are hereby appointed a Board of Assessment ofTBenefits -to_be_received by each of the Lots, Blocks and parcels of real ..estate in East Lafayette Avenue Improvement Dis- Alderman Suttle, introduced an Ordinance entitled, " An Ordinance Levying Assessments on certain real estate embraced in East Lafayette Avenue Improvement District Number One, " of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, which was duly seconded by Alderman Sour and said Ordinance was read the first time, thereupon Alderman Suttle moved to suspend.the rules and have the sa.i Ordinance placed upon its second reading, which motion was dulyseconded by Ald. Sour, and adopted by the following vote, "Ayes"_- Appleby, Jobe,_HightSour_and Suttle,"Nays" -_None__ absent and not voting_" Aid. Phillipe_. ", and said Ordinance was read the second time there- _ - - - - - - i upon Alderman Suttle.moved that the rules be further. suspended and said Ordinance be read the third time and placed upon its passage, which motion was duly seconded by Ald. Sour and adopte - by the following vote, " Ayes" - Appleby, Jobe, Hight, Sour and Suttle,. " Nays" - None, absent and not voting, Ald. Phillips - and said Ordinance was read the third time and placed upon its pas^age, the question being shall_ the Ordinance pass ? The roll was called and those voting �'"Aye" were Aldermen Appkeby, Jobe, Sour, Hight and Suttle, "Nays"-_None,._e.bsent and not voting Alderman Phillips _ said Ordinance receiving a majority of all members elected to the Council was therefore declared to be -adopted -and passedeand a, copy of whichisssfollows, towit r tract No. 1, " and moved its. adoption, which was duly seconded by Al&.
