HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-03-29 Minutes0 • MINUTES OF A BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT MEETING 0 a , , 41312 The Fayetteville Board of Adjustment met at 3:30 P.M., Monday, March 29, 1971, in the Directors Room, City Administration Building, Fayetteville, Arkansas, Members Present: Carl Yates, Roy Clinton, J. F. Robinson. Members Absent: Suzanne Lighton, J. F. Palmer. Others Present: Harold Lieberenz, Peggy Bishop, Tommy Henderson, Don Offenbacker, Chairman J. F. Robinson called the meeting to order. The first item on the agenda was a public hearing on the application of Peggy Bishop for a variance on the property located on the Northwest corner of Vandeventer Avenue and Patricia Lane. Mrs. Bishop requests a 20 ft. setback from Vandeventer rather than 32 ft. required. Paggy Bishop represented the application and stated she had sold the property on condition she could obtain a variance. The house on the plot plan was designed by the buyer. Deed restriction prevents facing house to Vandeventer. She said the slope of the land is also a factor. Pennington will be the builder. There was no opposition. The public hearing was closed. PEGGY BISHOP Vandeventer & Patricia Lane The second item on the agenda was a public hearing on the application D -SIGN, INC. of D -Sign, Inc, for a variance on the property located on the Northeast College & corner of College Avenue and Sycamore Street. Sycamore Don Offenbacker (D -Sign) and Tommy Henderson of the Taco Hut, were present to represent the application. They explained that the extremely low building would make the sign hazardous if it is erected no higher than the height of the building. The building is 9 ft. high; they propose an 18 ft* high sign, 10 ft. off College ROW and. 2 ft. off Sycamore ROW. The sign is one Mr. Henderson used in another, location. Carl Yates asked what effect a 90 day delay would have. They said there is no sign up at all now. There was no opposition. The public hearing was closed. There was considerable discussion on item two. Carl Yates moved that the Board defer action for 45 days. Roy Clinton seconded. It was passed unanimously. The Board requested that the Planning Office discourage new appeals on signs until something is done on the sign regulations. Carl Yates moved that the Board approve the Peggy Bishop application as submitted. Roy Clinton seconded. It was approved unanimously.
