MINUTES OF A BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT MEETING
The Board of Adjustment met at 4:00 P.M., Monday, September 22, 1969
in the Decision Room of the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce, City
Administration Building, Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Members Present: J. F. Robinson, J. F. Palmer, Roy Clinton.
Members Absent: Ed Clement, Carl Yates.
Others Present: K. C. Taylor, George A. Handy, Julia Rogers, Mary
Overholt Peters, Don Pitts.
The meeting was called to order by the Chairman, J. F. Robinson.
The first request for a variance was submitted by Mr. Alton R. Hart
for property located at the rear of 524 North Sequoyah Drive. The Alton R. Hart
applicant requested a variance for a group housing project in order to
build an additional one -family dwelling behind an existing structure.
This dwelling would have a 26 -foot driveway extending to Sequoyah
Drive.
Representing the petition were George A. Handy and Julia Rogers.
They stated the lot was exceptionally deep and there was no street
frontage to the rear of it, hence the 26 -foot long driveway.
There being no opposition and no further discussion, the public
hearing was declared closed.
The next application for a variance was submitted by Mary Overholt
Peters for property located at the North end of Wheeler Avenue. Mary Overholt Peters
Representing the application were Mary Overholt Peters and Don
Pitts. The variance requested was for a group housing project
in order to erect an additional single-family residence on the
property at the North end of Wheeler Avenue. Wheeler Avenue does
not extend past and serve this property, however, there is a
gravel drive running off Wheeler and past the proposed building
site.
There being no objections and no further discussion, the public
hearing was declared closed.
The final petition for a variance was submitted by K. C. Taylor for
property located at 1903 Yates Avenue,
Mr. Yates represented the application and stated that he d6sired to
erect a recreation room on the northwest portion of his property. He
is requesting a 25 -foot rear setback rather than the 30 -foot rear
setback required by City Zoning Ordinance. Mr. Yates stated that
since the property behind his faced the street to the side of his
property, their setback requirement was only a 10 -foot side setback.

There being no opposition and no further discussion the public hearing
was declared closed.

At this time Roy Clinton moved that the variance request of K. C. Taylor
be granted. J. F. Palmer seconded and it was approved unanimously.
Roy Clinton moved that the variance requested by Nary Overholt Peters
be granted. The motion was seconded by J. F. Palmer and approved
unanimously.
Next, J. F. Palmer moved that the variance be granted to Alton R.
Hart. Roy Clinton seconded and it was approved unanimously.
The minutes of the August 25, 1969, meeting were approved as mailed.
There followed a discussion on the possibility of changing the day to
meet, since Ed Clement has a conflicting schedule. This decision was
left to the discretion of the Chairman.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 4:30 P.N.
