BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT MINUTES
The Board of Adjustment met at 4:00 P.M, Wednesday, August 30, 1967,
in the Directors Room in the City Administration Building, Fayetteville,
Arkansas,
Members Present: J.F. Robinson, Ed Clement, J.Y. Palmer, Carl Yates
Members Absent: Wade Fincher
Others Present: Seven interested persons
The meeting was called to order by Chairman, J.F. Robinson.
The first application given consideration was that of St. Joseph's ST. JOSEPH'S
Catholic Church. Mr. Ernest Jacks explained to the Board that CATHOLIC CHURCH
the Church is requesting permission to build a campanile which
would be closer to the north property line than permitted by the
City Zoning Ordinance and also to erect a new Church building closer
to the front and side property lines than authorized by the Board
of Adjustment at their meeting of September 7, 1966. He pointed
out that the bulk of the (Awch building could be held to a thirty
six (36) foot setback but a small one-story projection would be
• within thirty (30) feet of the north property line. Parking
space is provided in the rear and side yards and there are entrances
to the church at the rear and side of the building as well as at
the front.
Mr. Robinson asked if there were any further questions. There
were none.
All of those interested in this application left the Directors Room.
J.F. Palmer moved that the Board of Adjustment waive the front and
side set -back requirements of Zoning Ordinance No. 1239 as requested by
St. Joseph's Catholic Church for property located on East Lafayette.
The motion was seconded by Ed Clement and passed unanimously.
The next application to be considered was that of Mr. George T. Quier.
Mr. Quier was not present. Mr. Quier's request for a variance from
the zoning ordinance to build two duplexes on property located at
the point.where South Garland Avenue becomes Brooks.Street, the street
frontage of the lot is 67.21, frontage required by the zoning ordinance
in this zone is 60t for each duplex or a total of 1201.
After discussion a motion was made by J.F. Palmer to deny the variance
requested by Mr. Quier due to the lack of street frontage, the congestion
created, the lack of sufficient yard space for childred or outside activity
and the fact of no allowance being made for carports or unsightly parking.
• The motion was seconded by Carl Yates and unanimously approved.
Mr. J.F. Palmer moved that the minutes of March 22, March 29, April 11,
April 192 and July 5 be approved as mailed. The motion was seconded
and approved.
