HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-07-21 Minutes (2)Ll 205-2 The Hoard of Adjustment met at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 21, 1965,_in the City Council Room of the City Administration Building. Members present: John I. Smith, J. F. Robinson, J. A. Pennington, George Boren and James T. Kerlin. (All members were present) Others present: Bill Bequette; Paul Young, Jr.; Al Wilkins of Linkway Store CompatW; Clifford Ward, Glen Melvin and'Reverend Terrel Gordon of the Immanuel Baptiet'Churcb. The meeting was called to order by Chairman John I. Smith. Permission proposed store building than that amount required by the zoning ordinnance. proposal was for 22 spaces; whereas the ordinance requires 60 spaces. The applicants told the Board that the nature of the business proposed did not nelpt the amount of offoostreet, parkIn spaces required. Them was ,. further discussion, so the applicants were dismissed. F helast applicant to appear before the._ v. ... After discussion of the ownership of the adjacent lots, the applicant was dismissed. Reverend Terrel Gordon sad two other representatives of the InaLnuel. Baptist Church were present to discuss with the Board of Adjustment a building problPle, which confronted the church. 0 It was explained to the Board that the church had purchased property elsewhere and planned to build in the future. The existing building and property would be sold. Before selling the church planned to do some remodeling and improving of the building and property., The addition of restrooms was one of the improvements proposed. This addition had been proposed and had been included in the first application of the Immanuel Baptist Church to the Board of Adjustment in 206-2 February 1963. A couple of years have passed since the Board's approval was given an said application. The church wanted to know if another appeal was needed 6r if the Board would permit the addition of the rest� rooms as they had once approved such use and construction. After discussion the.Board felt that the City Attorney should be consulted and that whatever he thought should be done would most with their approval. J. F.Robinson.moved that the Board of Adjustment not waive the off�stre parking requirement- as requested by ths� application of Linkway Store Company.
