George Bowen and Mr. James A. Pennington. Mr. Harold Lieberenz and the following applicants: Reverend A. D. Stuckey, Dr. S. T. Hucke and Mr. C. W. Guisinger, Absent: Mr. John I. Smith and Mr. Tom Schiewetz, Mr. Robinson presided as chairman in the absence of Mr. Smith. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as mailed to the members prior to the meeting. The first application was that of Reverend A. D. Stuckey. The variation requested by Reverend Stuckey in behalf of the Calvary Baptist Church to the Zoning Ordinance is for the use of the property located at 417 North West Avenue. This property is in an R-4 residential zone. The church has bought property to the south on West Avenue and Maple and would like to use part of the lot for additional "off -the -street« parking. In this R-4 zone church "uses" must be approved by the Board of Adjustment before the church can convert part of the lot to "off -the -street" parking. Mr. Bowen stated the church definitely needed more parking space. Their lack of parking has created a dangerous situation on West Street and Wilson. Mr. Robinson asked if the property was recently purchased. Reverend Stuckey said the lot had been recently purchased. There was no further discussion, and the applicant was dis- missed. • The second application was that of Dr. S. T. Hucke. The variation requested by Dr. Hucke to the Zoning Ordinance is for the use of the property located at 346 St. Charles Avenue. This property is located in a R-4 residential zone. The applicant wants to remodel his home by building a new room and an attached car port and garage. The roof of the proposed garage would be only. 2.5 feet from his south property line. Mr. Lieberenz asked Dr. Hucke if the garage would be closed -in. He said it would. Mr. Bowen asked where the drive -way is located. The drive -way is in the back of the house. Dr. Hucke wishes to build the garage in such a way that it would not impede the view in the back. He wishes to be able to see the back yard so that the children can be watched. Mrs. O'Kelley owns the property to the south. Mr. Robinson was concerned about the neighbor to the south building as close to the property line. Both houses would then be extremely close. Dr. Hucke plans to use the garage as a work (hobby) shop and storage room; otherwise the garage would not have to be enclosed. Mr. Robinson asked if the garage could be built closer to the alley, but the slope of the lot might complicate building the garage in another location. 40 There was no further discussion, and the applicant was dismissed. 22-2 Mr. C. W. Guisinger was the third applicant. The variation requested by Kr. C. W. Guisinger to the Zoning Ordinance is for the use of the property located at 214 East Lafayette. The applicant requests permission to build a sixteen -foot by sixteen -foot extension to the existing accessory building. This proposed extension to the garage would be one foot from the north property line (rear line) and would be erected on the east property line (side line). The extension will be used as a garage for two boats. Ns. Lieberen2 read an affidavit from Mrs. Hood who owns the property to the north. Mr. Robinson asked if Mr. Jack. Hyland's building was already built. Mr. Guisinger said the building had already been built. There was no further discussion, and the applicant was dismissed. Mr. Bowen made a motion to approve Reverend A. D. Stuckey's application for the Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Pennington seconded. The motion carried unanimously. After a short discussion, Mr. Pennington made a motion to grant Dr. S. T. Hucke's applicantion. Yx. Bowen seconded. The motion carried unanimously. Mr. Bowen made a motion to approve Mr. C. W. Guisinger's application. Mr. Pennington seconded. The motion carried unanimously. The meeting was adjourned. C, J APPROVED'A G11G7X19dJ9L. • DATE • qi%
