Present: Mr. John I. Smith, Mr. George Bowen, Mr. James A. Pennington,
Mr. Raymond Nelson and Mrs. Samuel Siegel of the Planning Commission,
Mr. Harold Lieberenz and applicant Mr. Loren Esta Vaughn and his wife.
Absent: Mr. J. F. Robinson and Mr. Tom Schiewetz.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman John I. Smith. The minutes of the
last meeting were approved as written and mailed to the members prior to the
meeting.
The only application presented to the Board of Adjustment was that of Mr. Loren
Esta Vaughn. The variance requested is for the use of the property located at
1023 Hughes Street. This property is located in a R-2 Two-family Residential
Zone.
The applicant's residence is attached to a grocery store building. Mr. Vaughn
requests the Board to permit him to convert the part of the structure that has
been used as the grocery store into a one -family apartment.
The zoning ordinance requires that a person must have an 8,000 square feet lot
before he can convert a dwelling in this zone to a duplex. The applicant's lot
is approximately 7,000 square feet in area. The applicant does not plan to
build any addition to this structure.
Mr. Smith asked if there had been any complaints to the Inspector's office from
the neighbors. Mr. Lieberenz said there had been no complaints.
There was no further discussion, and the applicant was dismissed.
After a short discussion, Mr. Pennington made a motion to grant the variance
requested by the applicant. Mr. Bowen seconded. The motion carried.
After the Board of Adjustment's regular meeting was over, Mr. Raymond Nelson
talked to the Board members concerning the Board's duties.
The meeting adjourned.
