• 3:30 P.M., JUNE 30, 1960 CITY COUNCIL CHAMBER
IA
Present:
Mr. J. F. Robinson
Mr. George Bowen
Mr. James A. Pennington
Mr. Harold E. Lieberenz, City Building Inspector
Mr. Nolan E. Williams, applicant
Mrs. Joan Erwin, secretary
Absent: Mr. John I, Smith
The application to come before the Board was that of Mr. Nolan E. Williams
at 512 Adams Street. The applicant wished to remodel his residence and also
build a carport onto the east side of his residence. The posts for the proposed
carport will be four (4) feet from the east property line. The City Zoning
Ordinance requires five (5) feet from the side property line.
Mr. Williams pointed out that he had a building permit under the old ordinance with
the carport posts set at five feet. He added that he was making this application
because a few inches could make a lot of difference in the use of the carport
to him.
Mr. Lieberenz read a letter from the neighbor on the east who would be the only
one affected by the proposed carport. He asked that the petition be given further
consideration and stated that he had no objection to it. Mr. Williams stated
that the carport could not be placed anywhere else on the lot.
Mr. Bowen asked it it would be an open carport. Mr. Williams stated that it
was and that the roof would not interfere with the view from the house on the east.
Mr. Pennington asked how wide the carport would be. Mr. Williams replied that
it would be 10 ft. wide and that there was a ditch about 12 inches wide between the
driveway and the house. He stated that the roof would actually be about one ft.
from the property line.
There was no further discussion, and the secretary was asked to call the roll.
The vote indicated:
Mr. Robinson - yes
Mr. Bowen - yes
Mr. Pennington - yes
The application was granted.
The meeting adjourned at 3:50.
