Mr. Young asked the Building Inspector to present the applications to the
Board.
The first application was that of Mrs. Eason of 508 Forest Avenue. Mr.
Lawrence Hicks represented Mrs. Eason. Her request was to remodel
her home by adding a room to the rear of her present residence.
Mr.
Young
asked Mr. Nicks to
present the application.
Mr. Hicks stated
that
Mrs. Eason is taking care
of her father and mother
and since they both
are
unable
to climb stairs, she
would like a bedroom built downstairs.

Mr. Yo'ung asked Mr. Hicks i he ground sloped in the back yard. Mr. Hicks
said it was pretty level, although it sloped to the back slightly because the
ground has a tendency to slope, to the east at this location of Forest Avenue.

Mr. Young asked Harold how far to the back of the property line is it from
the present building. Mr. Hicks and Harold agreed that it was about 25 ft.
Mr. Young asked if there had been any objections expressed in the neighborhood.
Harold said that no one' had called his office or contacted him about the
proposed remodeling. Mr. Young stated that it seemed like this situation
is for convenient needs, and Mr. Hicks said yes, because the bedrooms are on
the second floor, and it is impossible for her parents tqdimb stairs.
Mr. Bowen asked if there were any bedrooms downstairs. Mr. Hicks replied there
was a very small one. Mr. Young stated that it appeared to him to be a case
of convenience more than anything else. Mr. Carter aaid that all the grants
that have been made by the Board could be for conveniences, as long as it
doesn't interfer with anyones property in the neighborhood. The garage is within
5 feet of the line. The building is 61 ft. back.

Mr. Hicks was asked if he could build to the south and still be 5 feet from
• the property line. He replied there wasn,'t enough room.
Mr. Lieberenz showed the scale of his
was a possibility of building somewhere
property(., M,.Y,o,,upg asked if there
else. Ha'o s tatud there might be
a possibility that it could be built to the
north, but
the exact
size of the lot
is not known at this time. Mr. Young asked what
clearence
is there between
the house and the garage in the back to
the east of
the house.
Harold answered
that it sealed on the drawing about 14 or 15 feet.
Mr. Carter suggested putting the matter off until more information was found
abotrt the measurements.
Mr. Hicks suggested that he check on the property line and see how much
property there is on the north side of the house. It was agreed that Mr. Hicks
would check on the property and report to the Building Inspector.
The next application was that of Mr. Tom Hudson of 645 North Walnut Avenue.
He lavished to erect a car port on the north side of his present dwelling. It
will be closer to Rebecca St. r.than the 20 ft. required by the Zoning Ordinance.
He would have one or two feet between the proposed car port and the property
• line to the north.
Mr. Young asked him if there were any houses west of him. Mr. Hudson replied
no. Was there anything north across the street? Mr. Hudson replied there
was a house opposite him. His house sits in the corner, so the house is not
directly across the street, but more at a diagonal.
Mr. Young asked Mr. Hudson why he didn't consider putting it on the other
side of the house. Mr. Hudson said there isn't enough room, the street was
opened and water comes down on that sde. He built a wall and turned the water.
He would like to put his car port on there to keep water and frost off to the winter.
Also, his living room is very small and he wants to enlarge it to the south at
some future date.
Mr. Bowen said Mr. Hudson already has the driveway and it doesn't appear to him
that Mr. Hudson could change the location without a lot of extra work. Mr .
Young stated that he didn't see why it would interfer with the line of sight
of automobiles traveling Rebecca Street.
Mr. Hudson was asked if any neighbors had any objections. He replied no.
Mr. Young asked what kind of car port was he going to huild. He replied a flat
top. Mr. Bowen said he didn't see why there would be any more with a car port
supported by posts thanthe way it is now.
