McGoodwin, called the meeting to order. It was decided that the minutes of the previous meeting held April 4, 1956 would be read at the next meeting. Mr. Harold Lieberenz, City Building Inspector, was asked to present the Application of the Calvery Baptist Church and explain what they wished to do. The variation requested by the Calvary Baptist Church to the Zoning Ordinance is for the use of the property located on the southwest corner of the intersection of north West Avenue and West Maple Street known as lots 5, 6 & 7, Block 5-B of Frisco Addition to the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas. At the present time the Church has a frame residential building located next to their concrete block church building which they use for Sunday School Class Rooms. They recently purchased lot 7 which is a 50 foot X 129. 75 foot lot so that they could build a new 12 inch masonry`fbuilding to be used to house the Sunday School Class rooms and when it is built they want to tear down this old frame building. The proposed building would not have the twenty-five foot rear yard as required by the Zoning Ordinance. Mr. Young asked Mr. Miller approximately when the original building was built, and whether or not it was built before the zoning ordinance was passed. Mr. Miller replied that it was before the Zoning Ordinance was passed because it was built approximately 5 or 6 years ago. Mr. McGoodwin stated that the Church had the approval of all the property owners at the time it was built. May 8, 1956 • Mr. Lewis asked if there was a residential building located on lot 8 and Mr. Lieberenz replied that there was.a residential located there. Mr. Young asked what reasons they had for wanting the Board to grant the variation. Mr. Miller stated that one of the main reasons was that they would be able to save all of their parking area ----and too, that the new building would be more pleasing to the Community than the old one which was there at the present time. Mr. Lewis asked if they had attempted to purchase any of Lot # 8,, and Mr. Bond replied that they had not. Mr. McGoodwin stated that the Board had to find out if there was any way under the Ordinance that the Church could be granted the variation. He asked if the Board's refusal to grant the variation would constitute a confiscation of their property. Mr. Crocker asked if it would be possible for them to rearrange their floor plan and still have sufficient parking area. Mr. Miller replied that they felt that this was the best design for their particular needs. • The Chairman, Mr. McGoodwin, asked if there were any adjoining property owners present that had any objections to the variance being granted. There were no adjuoining property owners present. There being no further discussion a vote was indicated and roll was called. Mr. McGoodwin Aye Mr. Crocker Aye Mr. Lewis Aye Mr. Young Aye The application was granted. It was decided by the Board that there would definitely be only one meeting of the Board a month, and that would be held on the last Thursday of each month, the next meeting being on June 28, 1956.
