Clark Mr. L. M. McCoodwin Mr. Witt Carter Building Inspector Secretary pro tem Applicant for Variation (not present) Absent: J. R. Crocker, Sr. The Chairman, Mr. L. M. McGoodwin, called the meeting to order and asked the Secretary to read the minutes of the last meeting of March 25, 1955, which were read and approved. Mr. Lieberenz was asked to present Mr. Clark's application for variance and explain just what Mr. Clark desired to do. Mr. Clark, 848 Williams Street, is in a "B" residential area, (2 -family) and had made application to rezone this district to "C" residential several months ago, but was objected to by neighbors. This matter was brought ug before the Planning Commission and, also, the City Council, but was denied. If a rezoning of this area had taken place Mr. Clark had intended to enlarge his kitchen. At the present time, Mr. Clark wishes to tear down the garage and build a new car port with a 4 foot by 14.5 foot stoop from the new car port to the north end of the building. There is no question that Mr. Clark has the required footage to build this proposed carport. The Chairman asked what type of buildings were adjacent to Mr. Clark. After a discussion among all of the members and Mr. Lieberenz, it was determined that the property adjoining Mr. Clark to the North and East is University property, a one -family residence is located to the West.and a multipal family apartment is located across the street from Mr. Clark, South. Mr. Lieberena stated that the only reason that he brought Mr. Clark's appli- cation up before the Board was that he is in residential area "B" and has 4 -family apartments in this dwelling. However, he would have granted Mr. Clark the Building Permit because he felt that it would improve Mr. Clark's property and that this addition would not have increased the occupant' of the building. Mr. Young contended.that Mr. Clark is within his rights to improve his property and that from the above information the application should be granted. A motion was made and roll was called: Mr. Young Aye Mr. McGoodwin Aye Mr. Lewis Aye Mr. Carter Aye. Since there was no further business before the Board, Mr. Lewis moved that the meeting adjourn and Mr. Young seconded the motion. 9 V oZlo/. Approved: Te,
