Since the Chairman, Mr. L. M. McGoodwin was not present at the opening of
the meeting, Mr. Clarence Young, Vice Chairman called the meeting to order
at 4:15 p.m. After roll call, minutes of the meeting held on September 30,
1953 was read and approved.
Mr. Young entertained the motion that Mrs. Pauline Gooding's variance' to
the zoning ordinance be dropped since it has been worked out. Mr. Crocker

The variance of Mr. E. D. Rich, Abilene„ Texas, who wishes to construct a
residence on Skyline Drive, was first to be discussed. He has requested
permission to build the residence with a 20 fte setback from Skyline.Drive.
This is in an "A" residental area and requires a 25' setback from the property
line. Due to the fact that the topographical conditions prevents building
any further back than specified and that other houses on the East Side of
Skyline Drive are either on the property line or have a very little setback
and the asw.xesidencewould not prevent the view of others, Mr. Lewis made
a motion that the variance be granted so that Mr. Rich -would get the proper
usecof the property. It was stated that there would be approximately three:
building sites available to the North. The motion was seconded, and roll was
called.

Mr. Ed Puska, 307 Sutton in the °Bf' residental area requests to build a, concrete
block garage closer to his west property line than the five feet that is required
by the ordinance. He wishes to build the proposed garage adjacent to another
rock building which belongs to Mr. Blair. Mr. Puska explained his difficulty
in getting into and out of the basement garage that he now uses because. of the
distance to the property line. Building the corjcrete garage adjacent to the
rock building that is owned by We Blair seems to be his:only solution. He was;
asked by the Boardl if the owner of the lot in back of his property objected
who is:Mrs. Clinhens and Mr. Blair owner of the rock building. Mr. Puska stated
that he had already talked to both Mrs. Clinhens and Mr. Blair and that they
had no objection to him building at this proposed location.
