Rich, Abilene, Texas: - not present Applicant for Variation Mr. Ed Puska u m m Harriet Mercer, Secretary Since the Chairman, Mr. L. M. McGoodwin was not present at the opening of the meeting, Mr. Clarence Young, Vice Chairman called the meeting to order at 4:15 p.m. After roll call, minutes of the meeting held on September 30, 1953 was read and approved. Mr. Young entertained the motion that Mrs. Pauline Gooding's variance' to the zoning ordinance be dropped since it has been worked out. Mr. Crocker seconded the motion. It was suggested that a recommendation to the City Planning Commission be made on matters of this nature and shou]d be 'worked out accordingly in Ordinance: #1002. Roll was called: Mr. Clarence Young Aye Mr. J. R. Crocker, Sr Aye Mr. Heydon Lewis Aye Mr. With Carter Aye The variance of Mr. E. D. Rich, Abilene„ Texas, who wishes to construct a residence on Skyline Drive, was first to be discussed. He has requested permission to build the residence with a 20 fte setback from Skyline.Drive. This is in an "A" residental area and requires a 25' setback from the property line. Due to the fact that the topographical conditions prevents building any further back than specified and that other houses on the East Side of Skyline Drive are either on the property line or have a very little setback and the asw.xesidencewould not prevent the view of others, Mr. Lewis made a motion that the variance be granted so that Mr. Rich -would get the proper usecof the property. It was stated that there would be approximately three: building sites available to the North. The motion was seconded, and roll was called. Clarence Young Aye Heydon Lewis Aye J. R. Crocker, Sr. Witt Carter Aye Aye Mr. Ed Puska, 307 Sutton in the °Bf' residental area requests to build a, concrete block garage closer to his west property line than the five feet that is required by the ordinance. He wishes to build the proposed garage adjacent to another rock building which belongs to Mr. Blair. Mr. Puska explained his difficulty in getting into and out of the basement garage that he now uses because. of the distance to the property line. Building the corjcrete garage adjacent to the rock building that is owned by We Blair seems to be his:only solution. He was; asked by the Boardl if the owner of the lot in back of his property objected who is:Mrs. Clinhens and Mr. Blair owner of the rock building. Mr. Puska stated that he had already talked to both Mrs. Clinhens and Mr. Blair and that they had no objection to him building at this proposed location.
