The Chairman called the meeting to order and asked the Secretary to
read the Minutes of the meeting held June 26, 1953• They were approved
and it was noted that the meeting scheduled for July 3. 1953 was by—Passed.
The discussion of Mr. C. R. Gilbreath's application was continued and
each member of the Board reported that he had observed Mr. Gilbreath's
site. The Chairman pointed out to keep in mind whether granting
Mr. Gilbreath's request for variation would be a matter of convenience
or whether it would deny him of the reasonable use of his property.
After discussing this matter at length the Board could not find no
authoritative support from the Ordinance to grant the request.
Mr. Bryan then moved that the request for variation be denied. Mr. Lewis
seconded the motion. Roll was called:

The second application of variance to be discussed was Mr. Preston Magruder
who requests permission to build an underground car garage. This property
consists of a lot 100' by 1801, the south bide of the property being
located 660 feet from.the center of West Maple Street. This area is zoned
as a "B" residential area which requires a twenty (20) foot set back from
Razorback Road. This proposed garage would be set back five (5) feet from his
north property line, but the front of the garage would be located on the
west line of Razorback Road. Mt. Crocker made a motion to postpone any
decision on this request of variance until the members of the Board had
the opportunity to visit and study the site. Mr. Bryan seconded the motion
and roll was calledo ,

The meeting adjourned at 4:45 P.M. The next meeting of the Board will be
held Friday, August 28, at 4:00 P.M..
