The following audit committee members were present:
Tony Uth, Jr.
Bobby Ferrell, Alderman
The following City staff were present:
Paul Becker, Finance and Internal Services Director
Vicki Deaton, Internal Auditor
Lynn Hyke, Construction and Contract Manager
Peggy Bell, Contract and Grant Financial Accountant
1) The minutes from the August 26, 2009 Audit Committee Meeting were approved by
the audit committee members present. Draft and final minutes are forwarded to the City
Council each quarter to keep them informed of committee proceedings.
•2) The status of several pending Internal Audit reports was discussed. Hopefully, the
Backflow Prevention Audit Follow Up Report and the Special Investigation of Call
Practices in the City Memo will be issued and signed by the Chief of Staff and Mayor
before the end of the year. Internal Audit also reported that the 2009 physical inventory
counts are substantially complete. Internal Audit plans and oversees all physical
inventory counts in place of the BKD, the external auditor. All inventory documentation
is provided to BKD.
4) Alan Bryant's term as a member of the audit committee will expire on 12/31/2009.
The City Clerk's office informed the Internal Auditor that no one had applied for the
committee position. Applicants will again be sought for the vacancy during the first
quarter of 2010. Alan Bryant may serve until the position is filled.
5) Lynn Hyke and Peggy Bell led the committee on a tour of the new District Court
Building, which is scheduled to open to the public on 12/21/2009.
