FINANCIAL REPORT
• John Maguire presented the financial reports for November. Collections were $ 117, 108, a

collections are $ 1 , 156, 539, a 7.73% increase over last year' s collections year to date.
Expenses for the month of November were $ 17,249. Delinquent taxes were noted.
Fennel asked Marilyn to make sure city sends a letters at two month intervals. Trolley
report was also discussed. Moved to approve by Shipley, second by Mong. Motion
carried.
CONVENTION AND VISITOR DEVELOPMENT REPORT
Marilyn Johnson reviewed activity of her office. Inquiries year-to-date are up
approximately 2,300 over last year. Bus tour business has increased over last year.
Arkansas Parks and Tourist brought a coach of group tour leaders in last week to
experience the Lights of the Ozarks. Because of the increase in motor coach activity,
Marilyn will solicit and train volunteers as step-on guides during next year. The NWA
Charity Horse Show will move from Bentonville to Fayetteville in 2001 . Activities for
November included beginning of the Lights of the Ozarks festival, Veteran' s Day parade,
and an evaluation meeting for Bikes, Blues, and BBQ. The airport information booth is
ready and waiting on payment from A & P Commissions involved. We lost a bid for the
Arkansas Municipal League to Ft. Smith. Got the All Start Festival and Coaches Clinic in
2002. That involved 1700 coaches and 235 athletes.

• ADVERTISING AGENCY REPORT
Susan Wallace reported that the agency had worked on media recommendations for 2001 .
Trails are being marked to the running/walking trails brochure. She thanked the
Commission for approving the Town Center logo.
OLD BUSINESS
Town Center
Progress on Project
Marilyn Johnson reported that considerable progress was being made on the steel
supports. Weather had been generous to contractor until today. Mason was beginning
bricking of the structure.
Topping Out Ceremony
Topping Out Ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, December 21 at 12 noon.
Draft Ordinance revising HMR collections
Marilyn presented results of survey of A & P Commissions in the state. Reviewing the
state law, she noted that it is clearly the intent of the state law to collect HMR tax from
food prepared for on-premise and off-premise consumption. Rolf Wilkin of Eureka Pizza
spoke to the Commission. Moved by Jerde, second by Shipley to recommend draft
ordinance to City Council. Motion carried.
• NEW BUSINESS
Media recommendations for 2001
Susan introduced Brad Ruth and Lisa Murphy who presented recommendations by
Blackwood Martin/CJRW for 2001 . Moved by Shipley, second by Jerde to approve
recommendations of the agency. Motion carried.
Fennel asked that we check into a salsa festival for 2001 for late summer.
Approval of budget for 2001
Moved by Shipley, second by Jerde to approve the 2001 operating budget and A & P Fund
budget. Motion carried.
Authorization for Chairman to execute contract with Chamber of Commerce
Fennel led discussion on forming a CVB, which would eliminate the Chamber of
Commerce contract in 2002. All personnel would be into the Town Center. He stressed
that he had met with Steve Ward and that both had agreed that it would be a good business
decision for the Commission. The Chamber relationship with the A & P Commission has
been a good one over the years. The Chamber has done a good job overseeing the A & P
Commission business.
Moved by Jerde, second by Meng to authorize the Chairman to execute the contract with
• the Chamber for 2001 . Motion carried.
• Authorization to open a checking account for the Town Center
Moved by Shipley, second by Jerde to authorize opening a checking account for the Town
Center. Marilyn will bring specifics to the next A & P Commission meeting.
OTHER BUSINESS
Joe Fennel recognized Mayor Fred Hanna and Heather Daniel for their service on the A &
P Commission. Shipley said there wouldn't be a Town Center if it weren't for Fred
Hanna and the amount of sweat equity, which went into this project.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted_, / - - " l
