Re: Joe Martin Memorial Stage Race
Dear Marilyn, . , - :
• The Fayetteville Wheelmen Cycling Team would like to express our sincere appreciation for
your efforts with the Joe Martin Memorial Bicycle Race this year. With your help we were able
to contribute over $2,000 to the American Cancer Society while hosting a quality event that
brought over two hundred participants to the area.
We very much appreciate your support and realize that we could not have had the same
successful event without the help of the Chamber. We appreciate your commitment to stand
behind us in our efforts to raise money for the American Cancer Society as well as your
support for bicycle racing at the grass roots level.
Once again, thank you. We look forward to working with you on next year's Joe Martin
Memorial Stage Race. If needed for tax purposes, the Team's EIN # is 71 -07-0751265. If
there is additional information we can provide, we will be happy to work with you in any way
possilble.

Dear Marilyn:
The panel of judges in the Prettiest Painted Places in America competition has
completed its review of nominated communities and we're sorry to inform you that the place you
nominated -- although a wonderful entry -- was not selected as a finalist.
Despite the fact that this was the first Prettiest Painted Places competition, the field of
entries was remarkably strong and impressive. After the first few hours of work, one of the
judges commented that "America really is a spectacular country. It's a shame that all of the
• towns can't win, because they are all so beautiful." His remark sums up the sentiments of all of
US.
Should we conduct a similar competition in the future, we hope that you will enter again.
Some of the judges' decisions were very close calls that were heavily debated; the next time
around may produce a different result for your Painted Place.
As for now, we are sure that it is difficult to receive this letter. But please know that it
also was difficult for us to eliminate your place from consideration.
Thank you again for your time, effort and interest. It was a pleasure reviewing your
materials. (If you requested return of your photographs, we' ll do so shortly.) We wish you all
the best in the future.
Very truly yours,
i

P..S. The judges asked that we make mention of the fact that the Southeast Region was
especially competitive, with an abundance of outstanding entries.
