William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry ; i Mr. Dale Christy President March 14, 1987 Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce r •The Square .;.. Fayetteville, AR 72701 .,,t" Dear Mr. Christy: • I am very anxious to hear of your progress in looking int supporting the meeting of the Meteoritical Society when it comes to Fayetteville in 1988; you remember I came to see you about this in November. Since speaking with you we have raised about half the money needed for student travel awards and have obtained promises of support from Delta Air Lines and the Hilton Hotel. I am hopeful that the Eureka Springs Chamber of Commerce will help cover the cost of the social events in their city. r If the Chamber, perhaps in collaboration with the city, could cover the costs of one of the social events, it would help us considerably and be a most welcome gesture to our guests. For your convenience I have enclosed a copy of my letter of invitation to the Society to come here which describes what we have in mind for the meeting, and a "proposal" which describes the finances of the meeting and detailed arguments conerning the advantages of having the meeting here. I am currently on study leave in the UK and would be grateful if you could reply below, but if you wish to discuss the matter with one of my colleagues locally please call Justin Green, of the University's Development Office, on (501)575-5507 or Kyle Guimon (501)575-3170. •. Box 4216 Fayetteville, AR 72702 Dear Mr. Christy: It was certainly nice talking to you the other day about the The Southe m University Presses' Regional Conference which we will be hosting September 26-28, 1987. We will be attracting close to 150 people for meetings, shopping excursions, and social events. The Fayetteville Hilton will provide lodging and most meals. One of our events will be an Ozark Bar-B-Que. Since The University of Arkansas Press is a non-profit orga- nization, and this area -wide gathering is not a recurring event, we request information on possible funds from the Advertising and Promo- tion Commission for the City of Fayetteville. Your reply is eagerly awaited. ith warm regards, gaiter L. Kr9 e r Marketing WLK/hs Mcllroy House • 201 Ozark • Fayetteville • Arkansas n • 0 72701 • 15011575-3246
