AN ORDINANCE AMENDING § 72.58: (I), (1), CITY PARKING
GARAGE ON MEADOW STREET, TO ADJUST PER VISIT
RATES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,
ARKANSAS:
Section 1 . That § 72.58: (I), (1), City Parking Garage on Meadow Street, is hereby
repealed, and the following is inserted in its stead:
(I) Rates for parking in cihj parking garages.
(1) City parking garage on Meadow Street:
(a) First level (covered),
$45.00 per space/per month, or not more than $4.00 per visit if entry not restricted.
(b) Second level (covered),
$45.00 per space/per month.
(c) Third level (not covered),
$30.00 per space/per month, or not more than $3.00 per visit if entry not restricted.

SUBJECT: Ordinance Amendment to Rates for Parking in Municipal Deck
RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends approval of an ordinance amending Chapter 72:.140(1) (1 ) of the
Fayetteville Code of Ordinances to adjust rates for parking in the city parking garage
located on Meadow Street. The amended rates would allow a fee not to exceed $4.00 per
visit on the first level of the deck, and a fee not to exceed $3 .00 per visit on the third level
of the deck.
BACKGROUND
The City leases the first and third levels of the Meadow Street parking garage to the
Radisson Hotel Fayetteville. The Hotel offers these parking areas free of charge for hotel
guests and charges a minimal day rate for all other visitors. The fee, by ordinance, is
currently set at $3.00 and $2.00 per visit to the fust and third levels, respectively. This
ordinance change would allow the Hotel to increase these fees to $4.00 and $3 .00,
respectively.
DISCUSSION
By changing the ordinance to a "not to exceed" rate, the Hotel would have the ability to
open the gates to provide free parking during special events, and/or charge a lesser rate
during special events.
BUDGETIMPACT
The Radisson Hotel leases the property from the City and retains all parking revenues
generated on these two levels. Therefore, there will be no budget impact to the City for
this ordinance change.
