WHEREAS, A.C.A. §14-43-311 authorizes the City Council to k tinct �.
wards when the City Council determines " the people can best be served by . . . s
changing ward boundary lines . . . . "; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville ward boundaries were changed in
May of 1998 following the Special 1996 Census to equalize population; and
WHEREAS, the precinct lines where Ward One and Ward Two join were
slightly changed by the Washington County Election Commission affecting
about 200 residents in each area; and
WHEREAS, the ward boundaries should now be changed to follow these
new precinct lines so that the entire population in area A (as shown on the
attached map) should be included in Ward Two and the population in area B
should be included in Ward One.
WHEREAS, after this minor adjustment of Ward boundaries, the
population of each Ward will be within .7% of its desired quarter of the City's
population.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1 . That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas
hereby determines that the people can best be served by slightly changing the
boundary lines between Ward One and Ward Two to match the precinct lines
and adopts and incorporates herein the map attached as Map #1 as the official
Ward Boundary Map of the City of Fayetteville.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas
determines as a result of this change all of the area denoted as area A shall be
included within Ward 2 and all of area B shall be included in Ward 1 .

Section 3. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas
hereby determines that after this minor change, no other change of the boundary
lines of the City Wards are necessary as a result of the 2000 Federal Census as the
population of all wards are equalized as much as possible.
