Home My WebLink AboutOrdinance 4241 ORDINANCE NO. 4241 - AN ORDINANCE WAIVING THE REQUIREMENTS OF FORMAL COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF A USED DIESEL POWERED 12' HUSTLER MOWING MACHINE TO BE UTILIZED BY THE PARKS MAINTENANCE DIVISION; ESTABLISHING A REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION PROCEDURE FOR PURCHASE OF THE LISTED EQUIPMENT AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO APPROVE PURCHASE OF THE LISTED EQUIPMENT. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS : Section 1 . The City Council hereby waives the requirements of formal competitive bidding for the purchase of a Used Diesel Powered Hustler 12' Mowing Machine which will be utilized by the Parks Maintenance Division. Said formal bidding requirements would prevent purchase of such units as dealers do not find it practical or feasible to hold a unit of this type for the time necessary to comply with the requirements. Section 2. The total number of units involved in this purchase will not exceed 1 unit. Section 3 . The City Council hereby authorizes representatives of the Fleet Operations Division and the Parks Superintendent to evaluate, compare and finalize a recommendation to the Equipment Committee, and upon unanimous approval, to purchase an appropriate unit "on the spot" at a total cost not to exceed $23,500.00. Section 4. The City Council hereby authorizes the Equipment Committee to review the recommendation for final approval prior to submission to the Mayor. Section 5. The City Council hereby authorizes the Mayor to review the recommendations of the Equipment Committee prior to approving purchase. This equipment will provide the Parks Division with a superior mowing machine that will result in an increased efficiency for our current mowing crews. It will allow one person to do the work currently being done by two operators on two tractor mounted mowers, thus allowing the division to reap the benefits of having an additional worker without the additional cost.
