BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTE VILLE, ARKANSAS: Section 1 . The City Council hereby waives the requirements of formal competitive bidding for the purchase of a Used Diesel Powered Passenger Bus which will be utilized in the Fayetteville Trolley Program. Said formal bidding requirements would prevent purchase of such units as dealers do not find it practical or feasible to hold a unit of this type for the time necessary to comply with the requirements. Section 2. The total number of units involved in this purchase will not exceed 1 unit. Section 3 . The City Council hereby authorizes representatives of the Fleet Operations Division and the Administrative Services Director to evaluate, compare and finalize a recommendation to the Equipment Committee, and upon unanimous approval, to purchase an appropriate unit "on the spot' at a total cost not to exceed $35,000.00. Section 4. The City Council hereby authorizes the Equipment Committee to review the recommendation for final approval prior to submission to the Mayor. Section 5 . The City Council hereby authorizes the Mayor to review the recommendations of the Equipment Committee prior to approving purchase. PASSED AND APPROVED this 4t' day of April 2000 c , . This unit will be utilized as an in service replacement for Unit 210, a 1985 Ford E-350 EI Dorado Bus which is utilized in the Fayetteville Trolley Service. Anew unit of this type has a customer cost of $50,000.00 to $85,000.00. Itis the intent to limit the cost to a maximum of $35,000.00 for a late model used unit in good condition delivered to our facility in Fayetteville. An opportunity to save a substantial amount of money with the purchase of a used unit has proven to work out well in the past. We have been very fortunate in locating very serviceable units in the market. Therefore every effort will be made to continue this record with another economically priced used unit. Upon approval of a Bid Waiver, a purchase recommendation for a suitable unit will be submitted to the Equipment Committee and Mayor Hanna.
