HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 3922 11 ORDINANCE NO. 3922 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING AN ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS COMMITTEE; PROVIDING FOR ITS COMPOSITION; AND PROVIDING FOR RULES AND REGULATIONS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: Section 1 . The City Council hereby establishes a committee to be known as the Environmental Concerns Committee which shall meet a minimum of 6 times per year. A. The purpose of the committee shall be as follows: 1 . To address environmental concerns. 2 . Promote a safe and healthy environment. 3 . Maintain the natural beauty of the environment within the City . B. The Environmental Concerns Committee shall make recommendations to other city committees and to the City Council on matters concerning the environment. C . The Environmental Concerns Committee shall promulgate rules and regulations necessary for the conduct of committee meetings and other business. D. 1 . Such committee membership shall be composed of the following: * Four (4) City Council Members * One (1) Member from local industry * One (1) Member from a science discipline * One (1) Member from field of Environmental Law • Six (6) at large citizens 2. If any of the described membership categories are not filled, or shall become vacant, the Committee shall have the discretion to recommend at- large members. E. Membership terms shall be determined by the committee members pursuant to the rules and policies of the committee. Page 2 Ordinance No. 3 9 2 2 F. Appointment to the committee shall be as follows: 1 . Positions on the committee reserved for Elected individuals and staff personnel shall be filled by mayoral appointment. 2. Citizen positions on the committee shall be filled through the selection process as set forth in the Rules of Order and Procedure, Fayetteville Mayor/City Council, Revised and Adopted April 18, 1995 , Section H.
