AN ORDINANCE WAIVING THE REQUIREMENTS OF
FORMAL COMPETITIVE BIDDING, AND AUTHORIZING
THE MAYOR TO GIVE FINAL APPROVAL FOR THE
PURCHASE OF USED BUS EQUIPMENT FOR UTILIZATION
IN THE YOUTH CENTER TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM ;
AND APPROVAL OF A BUDGET ADJUSTMENT.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS :
Section 1 . The City Council hereby waives the requirement of formal competitive
bidding for the purchase of used bus equipment for utilization in the Youth Center Transportation
Program for the reason that said requirements are neither practical nor feasible as Dealers will
not hold used vehicles for the time necessary to take and award formal competitive bids.
Section 2. The City Council hereby authorizes the Mayor to approve the purchase of
a bus unit, "on the spot" , at a total cost not to exceed $11 ,000.00, with such approval being
based upon favorable recommendation of a purchase committee consisting of the Fleet
Maintenance Superintendent, Fleet Maintenance Supervisor and the Administrative Services
Director, as well as the Acquisition, Distribution and Recycling Committee.
Section 3 . That the Council hereby approves a budget adjustment in the amount of
$ 11 ,000 decreasing Acct. No. 9700 0970 4999 99, Use of Fund Balance and increasing Acct.
No. 9700 1920 5802 00, Vehicles and Equipment, to purchase used bus equipment for use by
the Youth Center Transportation Program. A copy of the budget adjustment is attached hereto
as Exhibit "A" and made a part hereof.
