HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 3661 ORDINANCE NO. rl AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE DUTIES, SALARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ELECTED FAYETTEVILLE CITY TREASURER. WHEREAS , the City of Fayetteville duly elected a city treasurer in the November 3 , 1992 election which elected officials to serve under a new mayor/council form of government and; WHEREAS, A . C. A . § 14-43-507 provides that treasurers of cities of the fust class, such as Fayetteville, shall be required to make similar quarterly financial reports as the city clerk and shall perform such other duties as required by ordinance; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Fayetteville to utilize the abilities of the presently elected city treasurer. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS : Section 1 . The duties of the currently elected city treasurer shall he as follows: a. to perform such duties as are prescribed by law for city treasurers of cities of the first class; b. to review with city staff a full and detailed quarterly statement of the financial condition of the city prepared by city accounting personnel showing receipts, disbursements and balance on hand, together with all liabilities of the city; C . to present the aforementioned report to the council in open session; d. to attend meetings of the city council and to attend, as requested by the chairperson thereof or as needed, any meeting of any other administrative board, commission, or authority of the city; and e. to perform such other duties and tasks as may mutually be agreed upon between the Mayor and city treasurer which are commensurate with the general duties of the office. Page 2 Ordinance No. 3661 December 1 , 1992 Section 2 The salary of the city treasurer shall be $350.00 per month during such time as the city treasurers office is a separate and unconsolidated office. Said salary shall be retroactive to November 11 , 1992. Section 3 . The treasurer shall have the authority, if he deems it necessary, to present an independent report on any part of the budget to the mayor and council.
