AN ORDINANCE WAIVING § 10 . 17 OF THE
FAYETTEVILLE CODE OF ORDINANCES FOR THOSE
ORDINANCES BEING AMENDED TO ACCOMODATE THE
ALDERMANIC FORM OF GOVERNMENT , TO ALLOW
PASSAGE OF ORDINANCE AMENDMENTS WITHOUT BEING
REQUIRED TO REPEAL THE EXISTING ORDINANCE .
WHEREAS , the Citizens of Fayetteville , Arkansas , on May 26 ,
1992 , voted to reorganize under the Aldermanic ( Mayor/Council ) form
of government ; and
WHEREAS , the Fayetteville Code of Ordinances is presently
written to reflect the City Manager form of government ; and
WHEREAS , it is necessary to provide for a smooth transition
to the new form of government ; and
WHEREAS , to accomplish a smooth transition , various changes
are necessary in the Code to provide authority whereby the City may
function efficiently until the new Council has an opportunity to
evaluate other ordinance changes .
NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE , ARKANSAS :
Section 1 . That § 10 . 17 , Ordinances Which Amend or
Supplement Code , Subsection ( a ) , shall be waived as to ordinances
passed and approved which are necessary to accomodate the change to
the aldermanic form of government .
