AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR ADDITIONAL C
COMPENSATION FOR EMPLOYEES CALLED TO ACTIVE
MILITARY DUTY , AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY ,
NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE , ARKANSAS :
Section 1 . Any full -time employee entering the military
service during a national emergency or recalled to active duty
shall , upon termination of the required period of active duty , be
entitled to reinstatement to his former position or an equivalent .
For a period of up to one year following the entry or recall , the
employee shall be compensated by the city for the difference
between military pay received and normal city pay , if such military
pay is a lessor amount , Time in service shall continue to accrue
during such period of military service . The employees must request
reinstatement within ninety ( 90 ) days after the date of official
discharge .
Section 2 . That this Ordinance is necessary for the
immediate health , safety and welfare of the citizens of
Fayetteville , Arkansas ; and emergency is declared to exist and this
Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date
of its passage .
