AN ORDINANCE WAIVING THE REQUIREME� S u-bF
V COMPETITIVE BIDDING FOR THE PURCHASE OF
WORDPERFECT AND LOTUS SOFTWARE PACKAGES AND
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF SAID PACKAGES .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE , ARKANSAS :
Section 1 . That the Board of Directors hereby waives the
requirements of competitive bidding for the purchase of 31 Lotus
software packages and 35 WordPerfect software packages for the
reason that said requirements are not feasible because the
immediate purchase of said software packages is necessary for the
City to comply with federal copyright laws .
Section 2 . That the Board of Directors hereby authorizes
the purchase of 31 Lotus software packages from Software Plus of
Fayetteville , Arkansas at a cost of $ 289 . 00 per copy and hereby
authorizes the purchase of 35 copies of WordPerfect software
packages from Government Technology Services , Inc . of Chantilly ,
Virginia at a cost of $ 165 . 00 per copy .
Section 3 . That the Board of Directors hereby determines
that the City must immediately purchase additional copies of the
Lotus and WordPerfect software packages in order to comply with
federal copyright laws and hereby determines that the immediate
passage of this ordinance is necessary to authorize said purchase .
Therefore , an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this
ordinance being necessary for the public welfare shall be in full
force and effect from and after its passage and approval .
