BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE , ARKANSAS : Section 1 . That Section 17B- 6 of the Fayetteville Code of Ordinances is hereby amended by adding subparagraph ( 5 ) to read as follows : ( 5 . ) Only one two - faced , or two one- faced , self service/ full service sign not exceeding four square feet in display surface area shall be permitted at each pump island . Section 2 . That Section 17B- 9 ( B ) of the Fayetteville Code of Ordinances is hereby amended by amending the first paragraph to read as follows : ( B . ) R and R-O districts . Freestanding signs shall be prohibited and no freestanding signs shall be erected in any R or R-O district of the City ; provided , one free - standing bulletin board per lot shall be permitted , subject to the restrictions on bulletin boards pre - scribed by Section 17B - 6 ( q ) of this chapter ; provided further , one onsite freestanding sign shall be permitted on a lot or parcel zoned R- 2 , R- 3 , or R-O subject to the following restrictions : Section 3 . That Section 17B - 11 ( 3 ) ( a ) of the Fayetteville Code of Ordinances is hereby amended to read as follows : ( a ) Limit of one onsite wall sign per business per building ; provided , when a building abuts more than one street , the limit shall be one onsite wall sign per business per building for each wall which faces an abutting street . Section 4 . This ordinance is hereby declared to be severable . Should any provision hereof be declared invalidated by a court of competent jurisdiction , such decision shall not effect the validity of the remaining provisions . 1I9!R125.1PAcE066 - 2 - Section 5 . The Board of Directors hereby determines that effective sign regulation is essential to the public health , safety and welfare , and hereby determines that the immediate passage of this ordinance is necessary for effective sign regula- tion .
