AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 17B-9( D) ( 1 ) OF THE FAYETTEVILLE
CODE OF ORDINANCES TO REGULATE THE NUMBER OF ON-SITE FREE STANDING
SIGNS PERMITTED IN INDUSTRIAL DISTRICTS .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE ,
ARKANSAS :
Section 1 . That Section 17B-9( D) ( 1 ) of the Fayetteville Code
of ordinances is hereby amended to read as follows :
( 1 ) Only one on-site free standing sign shall be permitted on
a lot , at a shopping center, or at a mall .
Section 2 . The Board of Directors hereby determines that the
City ' s sign ordinance does not adequately regulate free standing signs ;
that adequate regulation of free standing signs is essential to the
public health , safety and welfare ; and that the immediate passage
of this ordinance is necessary for the effective regulation of free
standing signs . Therefore , an emergency is hereby declared to exist
and this ordinance being necessary for the public health, safety and
welfare shall be in full force effect from and after its passage
and approval .
