Home My WebLink AboutOrdinance 2938 ORDINANCAI&OF 38 AN ORDINANCE WAIVING THE REQUIREMENTS OF COMPETITIVE BIDDING FOR THE PURCHASE OF SAFETY EQUIPMENT TO TEST FOR THE PRESENCE OF TOXIC GASES IN SEWER MANHOLES AND LIFT STATIONS . BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE , ARKANSAS : Section 1 : That the Board of Directors hereby waives the requirements of competitive bidding for the purchase of safety equipment to test for the presence of toxic gases in sewer manholes and lift stations because said bidding require - ments are not practicable as there is an immediate an urgest need for said equipment . Section 2 : The Board of Directors hereby authorizes the purchase of the safety equipment described in Exhibit "A" , attached hereto and made a part hereof from Anchor Fire 1 and Safety , Inc . at a total purchase price of $ 5 , 467 . 50 , and hereby increases the water and sewer budget for 1983 - 1984 by said amount . Section 3 : The Board of Directors hereby determines that tt ei�nce of toxic gases in sewer manholes and lift stations poses an extreme danger to city employees and to the general public ; that the purchase of safety equipment to test for the presence of toxic gases in sewer manholes and lift stations is needed immediately to safeguard the public safety ; and that the immediate passage of this ordinance is necessary to enable the immediate purchase of said=:equijeent .
